Re: 2018 Suzuki GSX-S750 launched at Rs 7.45 lakh

It can't get any better than this. To me the pricing is spot on. Who gives you 3 stage traction control in this segment? Previously it was the new Street Triple 765 S with two levels, but Triumph India has priced themselves out of the segment. It's new price is ₹9.3 lakhs ex-showroom, yikes!

GSX-S750's only real rival is the Z900 in India.

Check out any comparative YouTube review of GSX-S750 and you will only hear praises for the razor sharp but forgiving handling nature, quick turn-in, superb brakes, brilliant traction control. One UK journalist actually said, when comparing with Z900 "It feels sharper, it feels lighter, it feels livelier and more agile".

I actually took a 20km test ride of Z900, deeper thoughts are in that thread.

I loved the Z900.. but my only gripes were the 4 cylinder symphony was overtly muted and the lack of safety net, traction control. Z900 has a very gentleman character to it. In that you will feel like you're really 'working' the machine only when doing silly unruly triple digit speeds. Kawasaki has made it so silky smooth and linear that a 125bhp 950cc 4 cylinder motorcycle feels so lazy, relaxed and leisurely!

It would be an awesome motorcycle on unrestricted closed/safe autobahn type freeways in first world countries. But in India you have to be really really careful with what speeds your doing. Also under hard braking I noticed it had a serious nose dive. Could be adjusted with suspension settings though but not sure.

Going by our own Xbhp review and other Indian media rides, the GSX-S750 takes care of some of the deficiencies Z900 has. Superb Radial four-pot brakes, Stiffer Suspension, traction control, better ground clearance. Oh did I forget the sweet 4 cylinder symphony from the stock exhaust!

Also checkout the Yoshimura slip-on exhaust note of the same. Sounds like a Lamborghini!

Other brownie points, I found was that it can slip under the radar since it looks like a grown-up Gixxer155, nobody's gonna bother you in parking lots or traffic until of course they hear the rumble, but you would disappear by then.

If you don't mind the brand Suzuki and are looking for a brilliant all around package, to my knowledge GSX-S750 is best middleweight you can buy right now in India.

    Cheers!

I tried the GSX-S750 on a demo ride last year and it was too much bike for me. I am hoping to get a Vstrom 650 which is heavier and hence an even shittier bike I guess.

Fairings and clip-ons are so 2000s. Suzuki’s updated GSX-S models offer plenty of performance with none of the backache of a purebred sportbike.

I just dont see the USP of the GSX-R.

The z900 is a measley 23 grand extra. Thats it. It has 10 more BHP, 17 more NM of Torque. And is 5 kg lighter.

And if you, (like me) dislike extra weight, and are willing to pay for it, get the Street Triple. That is 50 KG less. FIFTY!!!!!!!!!

And the z900 is slightly lighter, and slightly more expensive, but also has a very different character. The GSX-S is not a streetfighter or hooligan bike or track weapon. That's not its purpose. That's why it has a steel frame rather than aluminum and a less-adjustable suspension. Attacking it for its weight is like saying the FJR is a crap bike because it's so much heavier than the Hayabusa.

I forgot to add: the Street Triple is also only 675cc, so it's not surprising that it's a lighter bike. However, as the old saying goes: There's no replacement for displacement.

              So your beloved 750 has the least displacement. 900 > 765 > 750
