  • BMW G310 GS spotted between Chennai and Bengaluru.

Calling BMW G310 GS and G 310R one of the most awaited motorcycles of India won’t be an overstatement. They have been showcased at two consecutive auto expos which took place in India but their launch has been delayed from time to time. Both the motorcycles are already on sale in some of the other countries, while we still wait for a concrete information regarding their launch. But recently a small lot of BMW G310 GS, which is the adv-tourer version of its roadster counterpart, was spotted transporting towards Bengaluru indicating some groundwork by BMW staff before the launch.

The 310 series is a product which came into inception because of the partnership between TVS and BMW-Motorrad. TVS already launched their version in the name of Apache RR310 in December last year. Some reports suggested that the bookings for both the motorcycles from BMW’s stable have already begun unofficially but they are open for only those who have owned a BMW motorcycle before.

We rode the the 310 GS sometime back in Australia and here’s what we think of it. https://www.xbhp.com/bmw-g-310gs-review/

Both the motorcycles are powered by 313cc water cooled single cylinder engine which churns out 33.6 bhp @ 9500 rpm and 28 nm @ 7500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6 speed transmission and is fuel injected. The GS is inclined towards touring while the R is more street focused. We anxiously wait for their official launch. Watch out this space for more such updates.

Many have been waiting for the launch of these 310 siblings for a while now.

Expected price in range of 3-3.5L.

Looks like I'll have to stick to TVS RR310 then

This will easily be priced around 1.5-2 times that of TVS 310 bike. I expect a cost of 3.5-4 lakhs. BMW is an inspirational brand, and its prices will reflect that.

Was really tempted to buy this bike. Despite being a sportsbike person. But if it is 3.5-4 lakhs, then I will give it a miss.
If it was 3.5 on road, then it would have been desirable.

Its not worth 4 lakhs for sure, that too for a single cylinder. I think its just the brand that we are paying for

Doubt it will cross the 3L mark.. 3.5+ is suicide pricing in a market like India. It has to be close to the D 390's pricing. And i hope bmw isn't foolish enough to price it way north of 3 L.

It's a single cylinder basic motorcycle made by bmw to enter the developing countries markets like the ktm's did .. if they (and probably a few customers too) think that they can take advantage of their brand 'image/premium' using a single cylinder small capacity motorcycle, then so be it

you expected home delivery on a private jet ?
it is made in india and that is how bike transportation works around here.
imports are usually come in wooden crates on a similar lorry.

I have mixed feelings about the pricing if they launch it here, BMW doesn't have a great service network and have less than 10 showrooms here in India, if they price it closer to the Duke they'll struggle with the aftersales and if they price it over 3-3.5 lacs it will sell in single digits. Now it's upto BMW on which route they would like to take.

well , few sales heads and management decides that its BMW and should maintain the brand value and in one such meeting they decide to price it to north of 3L mark and Bam.... its BMW ....

meanwhile .... in remote office of bajaj/KTM they will be laughing there A** on its pricing and finalizing there Adv launch plans :P

I have seen many reviews on YouTube regards the g310 gs, the refinement levels are not that great, not a perfect adv as per reviews ( no bike would be perfect in this price range though) the fuel tank 11L is s joke, no optional side paniers. Pricing it anywhere more than adv 390 wouldn't make sense, since the prices in the foreign market is around 3.5L to 4L there would be no export and Transportation cost involved here in India. Considering the KTM adv 390 price around or little higher than RC 390 have a feeling that BMW will try to under cut adv 390 if they don't want to rely on the BMW badge for the sales.

In my opinion, this is a soft roader. Not a hardcore adventure tourer like the bigger GSs. Pricing will decide it's fate in India.
The poser value of owning a BMW bike will be more than anything for general public. That is where bmw will cash in.
Fun fact: GS means Gelande Strasse in German. Meaning multiple roads. In Italian it is Multi Strada.
