The poser value of owning a BMW bike will be more than anything for general public. That is where bmw will cash in.
Fun fact: GS means Gelande Strasse in German. Meaning multiple roads. In Italian it is Multi Strada.
But there will be after market fittings to make it hardcore off roader.

There are many manufacturers in market already who make touring equipments for Dominar, Fz25, Duke 390.
Guess they will come up with some Adv kit.

There were so many people looking for an affordable all road bike, since Himalayan proved to be good for nothing. I had also interest for this baby GS. But the price speculation going around has already started negative branding for BMW. If they will be considering to put the price in 3-4 lac range they will be biggest idiots. Only those who want to showoff BMW name can go with that price range. Moreover, reviews are also not a win win from the countries where it has launched. People like us will surely give it a miss and wait for KTM 390 ADV or look for an alternative option.

I think bmw wants to keep the bike exclusive and out of reach of middle class. Hence the price. And if thats the case they should have rather not launched it.

May be BMW has a surprise for us. Keeping in bind the price sensitivity of India, they might price it around 3.15-3.20 lakhs OTR.
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

The BMW Motorrad dealership in Mumbai expects a price between 3-4 lakhs for both the 310's and a July launch. That would make the G310R costlier than the KTM Duke 390! Let that sink in for a moment.

The GS will be closer to 4 lakhs. The main competitor is the atrociously priced Versys X300 and there is the snob value owning a BMW . People will buy this for the BMW badge itself.

Another reason I think that BMW will price these bikes at a high premium than the competition is their thin dealer network, especially after watching TVS struggle to meet demand for the Apache 310. If they price their motorcycles competitively, would they be handle the demand with only 12 odd dealers in India? Probably not. Ease and quality of service would be an altogether different headache. This would be a disastrous situation for BMW. They will keep their motorcycles expensive, so that they can handle the numbers. The motorcycles alone are not worth that premium, but BMW has the brand desirability to pull it off.

Hoping for the best, as the GS310 is the first name on my Gixxer upgrade list.

Let's hope you're right but that looks unlikely given the brand name. I expect prices around 3.5-3.8L
