In the following video, the biker is trying his best to convince the cops that the headlamps are factory fitted and he has nothing to do with the way headlamps are being fitted, the cop is seen to be telling him that whatever it is, the responsibility his on the owner even if the Government has approved the design!

News Approved.
Well, this is probably a one-off isolated incident. Cops don't upgrade themselves with the changes to law, and these incidents happen. Although, here, the cops themselves seem unreasonable as the owner's logic is correct..
Some suggestions are as under:-
1. New owners could be handed over the vehicle's prototype & other certificates by dealerships/ company.
Although, with such cops I think it won't help much.
2. If there was a common forum between bikers and police, and similarly for cagers and police, these incidents could've been avoided altogether. But that is something effective, only if it can be done on a mass scale.---

I was once stopped on my way to Narkanda in 2016 mid (I was on my Ninja 250). A Cop in HP asks me to Turn off the headlights. I tell him this bike doesn't have a switch to turn off the light. He was going bonkers and angry saying why did you remove the switch and blah blah. I said this is how the bike is. He budged to let me go and after i showed him my Press ID Card, he lets me go.
Nothing wrong my side
this is how our cops are.

Re: TVS Apache RR310 LED headlamps are Illegal - As per West Bengal Police!!
From what I have learned in my 9 years of riding is that if a cop wants to book you for something, he will book you for something. Does not matter if you didn't do anything wrong.
If he wants bribe he won't give you a challan , instead he will threaten to take your RC, and Driving License and will ask you to get it back from the court, in hopes that hearing the name of the court the person will bribe him. No one wants to take leave form office to roam around the lawyers.
I was once stopped for paper check on a lazy afternoon, and finding that everything was in order the policeman told me that my License was fake. He wouldn't let me go, wouldn't give me a challan, wouldn't do anything except saying this is fake. I repeatedly told him that I have been riding with this license for past 8 years all across India and had my papers checked thousands of times. None of the other officers told me that it was fake, but he wouldn't budge. I was not ready to give bribe and he was not ready to let me leave without bribe. After that I lost my cool and told him that a fake license meant that I will face charges of forgery of documents, driving with a fake license, fraud etc ect, and if he can prove it, go ahead impound my bike and file the case. Hearing my voice rise, the sub inspector napping in the Petrol jeep came, took the constable aside to find out what the matter was, came back with all my papers and told me to go.
I must add that this was the first time any such thing happened to me. Every other time, I would stop; get the papers checked; answer their questions politely and be on my merry way. Most of the policemen were indifferent, a few were really nice and polite but only one was a complete moron.Last edited by Ankey; 09-10-2018, 01:31 PM.I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.
