Keeping the price low with reasonable safety is the point so, single ABS and disc brakes are good enough for 200. There are thousands of bikes in our cities running still on drum brakes, are they all destined to crash? Ride safely with common sense and 99.9% of time one will be safe, even without ABS and this is true with ABS also.

It's single channel, see i told you before [emoji4]Originally posted by s1d View Posthaha dont worry about the price.. bajaj is know to be competitive/smart with prices, and not only that over time the 200's price has gone up significantly. rest assured it is most likely the dual channel abs model that was being sold in export markets. i don't think they will develop a separate single channel abs module just for India.

honestly speaking as The Pain pointed out, for someone like me.. i'd prefer the non abs on such a small bike anyway
and i am happy with my non-abs 200.

I believe single channel ABS is here to stay, Most brands would try to keep their costs minimum in order to stay competitive. While we discuss about KTM, Its surprising to see so many people saying against ABS here. Arguing that ABS cannot save in all situations, common sense helps, ABS isn't required in 200cc.
Guys really?? Why do you wear helmet and riding gear then. They only reduce death chances by 30%. They won't save in all situations. Better go helmetless and ride with commonsense. Shouldn't we? going by your logic? SMH
I don't mind paying 30k more for a feature that probably will save my from broken bones and a broken bike, just like my riding gear, ABS is something that adds protection. I believe only those people are bashing ABS who don't have ABS in their own bikes. Sour grapes maybe?Last edited by hgps; 11-29-2018, 10:45 AM.There is no destination, I just want to keep riding.

We don't expect to crash everyday and put 100% use to the helmet, jacket, gloves all the time.Originally posted by s1d View Posti am happy with my non-abs 200.
So same way one may not put ABS to work all the time and make use of it 99.99%, but its like one of those things "if it happens, then it matters".
My two cents, KTM should pro actively offer ABS upgrade kit to the non-ABS Duke 200! Let it cost 30K-40K+, there are people who want to add it and not worry about cost, nothing to harm in just keeping on offer to people.Originally posted by hgps View PostI don't mind paying 30k more for a feature that probably will save my from broken bones and a broken bike
I know people who have spent nearly 60K just for top-end helmet, gears, R&G crash guards, frame sliders etc etc for the Duke 200, for them 40K is not a thing of concern
Moreover there is already 50% ABS components available in the non-ABS but they are disabled, this like swing-arm mount points, ECU that supports ABS functionality(disabled via software), wiring connector with black pin, ABS indicator on the speedometer all being present.
All they should provide would be a new Wiring kit, Rotor disc, Sensors, ABS module with new brake lines and an ECU software update to unlock the ABS functionality, and all these will not go more than 40K I'd say.Last edited by kiran2508; 11-29-2018, 11:21 AM.Bajaj SuperFE 150 - Forever in my heart

I think experienced guys have a better sense of what they are getting into compared to the younger lot. these people feel that too much of rider aids spoil the raw fun of riding a motorcycle. maybe they will disable it and ride at times.. for e.g. if mine had abs i'd disable it and enjoy that at times.Originally posted by hgps View PostI believe single channel ABS is here to stay, Most brands would try to keep their costs minimum in order to stay competitive. going helmetless and riding with commonsense? -- really? maybe that's your understanding of using commonsense lol. there is a difference between 'having' and 'using' it
remember even getting on a motorcycle or crossing the road can get you killed.. each one has their own appetite for risk.
now that there is a choice.. i've spoken about my choice and not forcing it upon others. i'd rather teach someone how to ride safer without putting other lives or their owns at risk before depending on rider aids.

I do not count myself as one of those "experienced" guys because i don't see any fun in locking up my front wheel and eating dirt. No thank you. I would rather have a boring but safe ride with rider aids.Originally posted by s1d View PostI think experienced guys have a better sense of what they are getting into compared to the younger lot. these people feel that too much of rider aids spoil the raw fun of riding a motorcycle. maybe they will disable it and ride at times.. for e.g. if mine had abs i'd disable it and enjoy that at times.
No that's your understanding of what i had written above. I don't feel the need to explain what i was trying to say.Originally posted by s1d View Postgoing helmetless and riding with commonsense? -- really? maybe that's your understanding of using commonsense lol. There is no destination, I just want to keep riding.
