Its not. Same spec as R15 v3. ~19.3PS. xBhp : Looks like there are 2 MT15 threads which are not needed or has been wrongly tagged. This was the FZ facelift thread I believe, now renamed.

There are 2 threads, one discussing about the launch of MT15 during it's worldwide debut another this one talking only about India launch.

Going by the attached pic, so the just now newly launched R15 v3 ABS and MT15 engines are with BS4 engines, meaning within next one year before April 2020 they will again have to launch another set of new updated bikes!

Why Yamaha why! The new owners who buy these will already feel that they have an outdated machine just within 1year.

Bajaj Discover 135 DTSi Sports - 2009 to Current
KTM RC390 - 2015 to Current
TVS Jupiter - 2016 to Current

I am gonna quote this again, Yamaha blatantly said in a press release that they will add ABS only when it becomes mandatory.

So going by that, they will update the engine only when it becomes mandatory so that will probably be in January 2020.

In addition to that there are RTOs that are misinterpreting the SC rule regarding registration of BS-XX vehicles, so some of them probably wont re-register BS4 vehicles once BS6 comes into action.

THIS is the other thread, but its a 2019 Global debut article, not the specific Indian launch version.

This thread when it was started, there was a confusion between the FZ V3 and MT15 launch. But FZ V3 go a separate thread for it after it launched.

Some websites are indicating that MT-15's weight is 288kgs... Is it true? I hope it might have been mistyped for 188, but even 188 seems a lot.

It includes rider pillion weights (average person ) and wet weight of the bike . It's gonna be similar to weight of r15 v3.

Just happened to see this. So, like most Yamaha products, Indian version gets a watered down stuff. That USD forks and cast metal swingarms(like the one in R15) is what makes the motorcycle look premium. But the Indian version looks like a modded fz16. That's just pathetic.

More spy shots

The MT-15 will be powered by the same motor which powers the Yamaha YZF R15 V3.0 and this means that the engine will be the same 155.1cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine.
