Default Fancy an electric V8? Fancy a Curtiss Zeus 8, set for production in 2020

There are quite a few radical-looking motorcycles in the world and it won’t be wrong to say that quite a few of them are electric. Arc Vector, KYMCO Supernex, RMK E2 and our homegrown EMFLUX motorcycles. But every once in a while, you come across something that makes the previous 'radicals' look like mainstream designs. We have come across something just like that. Referred to as an electric V8 by most, here, for your viewing pleasure, the Curtiss Zeus 8.

We would like to believe that the folks at Curtiss took people's comments about electric motorcycles not looking as good as ICEs too seriously. Starting from the beginning, the Curtiss Zeus 8 is the production version of the Curtiss V8 Hera. Yes, the motorcycle is not a mere concept is and is all set to go into production from 2020.

When images of the V8 Hera first emerged, they took the internet by storm because of the looks that mimic a V8 engine arrangement. But, those are definitely not conventional ICE cylinders. They are actually the batteries i.e. it uses a unique V8 style battery arrangement. According to Curtiss, the inspiration of the design comes from Glenn Curtiss’ 1907 V8 motorcycle with which he set a land speed record of 136.3mph on Ormand Beach, Florida.

Matt Chambers, CEO, Curtiss said, "With Hera, we set out to create the world’s most luxurious motorcycle. Featuring the world’s first V8 battery architecture, an ultra-powerful, yet refined, E-Twin motor, and a 66-inch wheelbase, Hera will occupy a class all her own."

Curtiss also claims that the Curtiss Zeus 8 will produce 217 Bhp of power and a tyre-shredding 200 Nm of torque. The numbers certainly state that the Curtiss Zeus 8 will not offer any quarters when it comes to power and torque... at least on paper! But then, it won't offer any quarters to the wallet either. Thanks to a collaboration with Fast Radius, a 3D-printing firm that builds over 60 parts for the Zeus 8, the bike is set to cost around $75,000 or around INR 53 Lakhs!
