Hmm... Interesting proposition. Killer looks, 200 BHP and the Honda reliability.

By the way is cylinder deactivation a first for a production motorbike? Haven't heard much apart form the CBR 1100xx prototype Honda had tested earlier..

A few years ago I participated in a contest by Overdrive about designing a bike/car suitablefor India. Although I didn't reach even the runner-up list, please humor me. I did sketch a half faired bike withvarying engine capacities. Along with which the engine would sport twin parallel cylinders with the very same concept of variable cylinders. I figured it would be achievble and suitable fr he India market.

Anywho, nice to see an update coming in for the VFR. I'm a fan of Honda's sport touring series and absolutely would love to see this bike here. Personally I feel even the Interceptor would be good enough for India.

EDIT: Saw the fresh pics. Very clean design with flush lines. great bike!

You sure this is the Honda ? The overall build and styling looks BMW to me, and shaft drive reinforces that thought.

It is symmetrically designed! And thats where the doubt ends!
I also thought the same. But then again compare the 09 VFR800 with this. There are many similarities.

Lol , saw profile view of S1000RR and I thought 'wow , BMW seems to have hired Japanese if not Italian stylists' , then I saw the front end, and though maybe the stylist was the son of a German father and Italian mother ! All other angles , it looks the biz .

                Haven't seen 09 VFR800 , will look it up.

Simply look at the mirrors. It will clear all your doubts.
Also, the VFR series has long been shaft driven.

yeah ? VFR750 is chain driven, VFR800 both generations chain driven. The mirrors look like they were taken off the MV Agusta F4.

BMW is moving away from their traditional designs for the new sport-inclined bikes that they probably hope will be more popular . Take S1000RR - chain drive , regular front ( USD forks ).

maybe not each and everyone from the range but most of them do. Also look at the mirors on the '09 Fireblade . And, its really besides the point. Fact remains that it looks vey interesting. Sweet bike.

BTW, the S1000RR is one kick ass bike but lets leave that to a different thread shall we.
