I dont understand why don't they give this opportunity to their test driver and why does schumi have to come back .... he is getting old and might not be as fast as other young drivers despite the fact that he was 2nd in 2006.

^ I dont think so Ferrari would take a chance of risking the championship with their test driver. I feel its a wise decision to call back schumi again.

Schumi return is based on Layalty and Honesty of this legend towards Ferrari...and yes many would think he shouldnt have... but right now with Massa ruled out for this season, I think he is the only driver who can make things improve for the team.... and its welcome from my side... my interest in F1 dropped drastically after Schumi went but I am looking forwards for it ........

The Tifosi couldn't be happier! (Very sad for Massa too)

The test drivers, though having driven the 2009 season Ferrari, will not come close to what Schumi can offer to the team.. He has tremendous racing experience behind him.. He is the only option they have for the current season, as Massa's interim replacement, according to me.
                      Peace!

I was just thinking about the range of age of the drivers, once Schumi is back on track in Valencia..
He will be the oldest at 40, while the youngest guy is Jaime Alguersuari at 19!
Interestingly, the young lad was just a year old when Schumi made his F1 debut..

I guess this is a tactical move by Ferrari. They have already started work on next years car, they will get plenty of feedback from Schumi as to what has gone wrong with this years car and watch out for the next years Ferrari. I am also sure Ferrari dont expect Schumi to win races, what they will be looking out from Schumi is his feedback which Kimi rarely provides .

note:- I don't care if he does not perform, I just wanna see him drive thats it. Even if he just crosses the finishing line in the next race that will be job well done. What I like abt Schumi is his in laps and outlaps during pits, off course the starts , I hope he does not bump anyone since the Ferrari comes with KERS.

                          Awesome...Schumi is back wow!!!!....
@bprags- Absolutely agree with you bro...since a test driver will not really experience everything that happens during a race...The good news for ferrari is the valuable feedback from schumi...

btw , wud love to see once rivals as team mates now and the way we know schumi's ruthlessness towards everyone on the track(including teammates) , it will be fun !

I guess he meant holding on to the 3rd place in the constructors, as Mclaren looks strong now.
