I mean, the article says that the bike is going to be launched on october 5th, that means there are just 12 odd days left bedore launch. Now what this article suggests is that even 12 days before that launch of a major product, the MD of the company does not have a specific price for the product! Somehow I find that hard to believe.
This could mean either of the following two things, as far as i can think.
1. The MD is trying to keep the price a secret from the competition for as long as he can by giving a broad range spanning Rs. 50k. This would serve a two fold purpose: keep the buzz going in the market and give sleepless nights to competitors which they will spend wondering whether the price is possible and how can they repond to it.
2. The announcement is merely a better iteration of the earlier announcements where bajaj just gave a random month for the launch of ninja. Now they have started prefixing the month with a date.
Conspiracy theory..!! Cool..
Cribbing starts even before the launch.

I dont think we can expect the price to be announced before the launch of the bike itself. Atleast I have not noticed any compnay doing that.Originally posted by hash101 View PostI mean, the article says that the bike is going to be launched on october 5th, that means there are just 12 odd days left bedore launch. Well, what I think important here is, if the bike will be launched on 5th Oct at all ! Thats the bigger question than the price! Price and who can afford at what price, the launch thread will take care of it! :-)

MG, Those are 2010 Kawa' Ninja i guess.. Displayed for Kawasaki Australia..Originally posted by MG_Biker1806 View PostSomeone in this or the earlier thread showed concern that the new silencer might result in engine tweaks=less power.I guess all those doubts can be laid to rest as the same bike is available in thailand.See below for proof. Also see a very new colour on Ninja..
Saw a couple of more pics here:

It was never my intention to call the price into question or to crib about it. I was merely saying that the range given by the MD seems like a classic case of emloyment of a smoke screen. Sure, the exact prices of the bikes have not been announced pre launch. But did bajaj make such announcements before launch of 220 dtsi saying that it will be priced between 50k-1L?Originally posted by blore_biker View PostI dont think we can expect the price to be announced before the launch of the bike itself. I would be glad to be wrong here. I would be the one of the first people in line for the booking on october 5 if the bike is launched that day with a tag of 1.5L!
The first possibility that i stated is the one i am hoping and praying for and the second one is the one that the defeatist in me keeps bringing up.

Art of reading news articles and reading in between the lines:
The following words haven't been put under "quotes" in the published article: The motorcycle would be priced between Rs 1.50 lakh and Rs 2 lakh in India.
What this means is that Business Standard isn't quoting Mr. Bajaj but merely speculating.

BS is merely speculating on the price like Payeng said, cause a CBU would be quite expensive(my guess is around 3L) and even a CKD would be around 2.5L. I just hope Bajaj keeps it promise and launches it on time now. This is a good time to be biker in India.
