And Bluevolt finally gets his Ninja 250R ! - Bajaj (late showroom opening) and Khivraj (late R/C), all is forgiven

I parked it in my apartment slot around an hour ago - the only problem I had riding it to my house were the RVM's and the gear changing - my RE has 1 up and 4 down (right leg side), and the 250R is the opposite so I kept downshifting thinking I was slotting it in higher gear And the mirrors will take some time getting used to...

Rode it in the year end Bangalore traffic mayhem, so 4000 rpm was the max I could go to anyway - feels like any other bike at that speed, but the gearbox+engine is super smooth. Very rider friendly, I'd say, and decent brakes.

I will post some pictures after I swap out the black tail covers with my green ones - I was looking for my screwdriver, and it took an hour to find where it was! Now, for some DIY stuff...

Congratulations Bluevolt, on getting your bike after a looong wait... I know how killing the wait would have been, as i had to wait for close to 3 months for my swift. But all that frustration goes off, once you get your possession.

And wat better day to get new Bike, than the new year's eve. A good gift for yourself.

Green looking gorgeous so no worries on black green front :P. When you decide a ride to Pune, I will have the opportunity to ride the green too .

finally u get ur bike man,
first thing you should do is to remove the saree guard,next front no: plates,& then cut the ugly rear mudguard till the reg: plate.

Ha ha - after a million posts in this thread, I did get my bike finally. Within 20 days of booking no less. Lucky because some people have booked their bikes in October and have not got them. Hope they get deliveries soon...

I just came back upstairs after swapping the tail covers - that was one mod which I desperately wanted to apply. Pictures below!

Thanks again everyone! It has started raining in Bangalore, so did not get a chance to pull the bike outside for a few snaps, but I can share some pictures from my DIY session in the afternoon and the bike in the parking.

One thing I wanted to change urgently were the black tail covers which in my opinion looked out of place on the green Ninja. So I got OEM green tail covers from Melbourne earlier this month and I spent the last hour and half putting them on myself. Some pictures:

I removed the side covers, the rear and main seat and the black tail covers. One needs a S shaped screwdrivers to take out the side covers, and then it is allen key all the way (no 4 and 5 sizes). Here's the bike minus all the stuff:

All the 250R bits kept on my RE!


This is one of the most painful process - removing the siamese twin rubber washers from the black tail covers and insert them into the green one. My fingers are still sore from pushing! Here's a picture of a washer - there are 6 of them!!!


One green cover fixed - actually the left one goes on first, followed by the right one as the right one sits on the left one at the pillion seat lock point:

Ta da! Green tail transformation complete!

The final look of the bike - excuse the lousy indoor picture, will post some nice ones in a day or two when the weather clears! Total time taken for swapping the tail covers - 90 minutes. Need S shaped screwdriver and a set of allen keys. There are 10 allen screws involved and at least 5 are in different thread lengths, so be careful not mix them up if you decide to do this procedure on your own, like I did.
I really like this new look as compared to stock, and the green seats go very well with the tail covers. Now I do not need to buy a black seat - yahoo!

The green side panels are great and suits well with the green back seat, but looks naked.... I think the 250R logo is missing...
