FYI, Twin Spark, Swirl ignition etc are all 80+ year old technology but hyped up as new technology as a result of 'great' RnD !!
it is precisely thinking like that due to which india has no/minimal presence in the automobile sector globally.
bajaj and TVS have atleast some export to south american, african and south east asian countries, how many does HH export? and now tata has captured headlines world wide with the nano. atleast they are trying

      • I own a Yamaha R15. I love riding, I love bikes but do not know too much about engines. Now coming to the new ZMR...I hope HH brings to Indian roads a killer bike, which I think they will. The ZMA was a kick ass bike, therefore I am guessing this one will be Kick ass as well.

Now to the P220 Dtsi and the YZF R15, who the hell cares who faster. To each their own. I know the P220 is faster, hell all the performance figures say so. Enjoy your bike, I do not think you went out and bought it just to be the fastest on the road, you bought it because you feel in love. I love my baby, she is my dream bike and she helps me feel closer to my ultimate dream bike, the R1.

All for one ... one for all.

        • I think even if HH ppl just bring out the same old ZMA after plonking in a FI unit and a full fairing, this will make it the best and the most reliable bike for touring ever launched in India. The ZMA can do wonders with some amount of tuning as has been proved by Joel. Now FI will give it crisper acceleration and even better fuel efficiency.Due to the presence of FI the new ZMA will face no damn issues at all when riding at high altitudes.

So even if HH launches the same old 223cc ZMA with FI, LC and Full fairing, it will give other bikes a good run for their money.

          • I am perhaps one person that is eagerly waiting for the new ZMA. No, I've no intention of buying it. I just want to know if I can replace my carb with FI + rear disc if there is one. If so I'm going to source them. BTW I'm pretty sure its the same engine (fingers crossed ) and expect power to be on par with P220s. Any guess if such sourcing will be possible?

not really , 0-60 ,0-100 and even the top speed of Pulsar is higher and has benn proved by all bike magazines ,testers ,everybody .
I want proof to call P220 (using professional equipments) the fastest production bike, till then the crown belons to baby R1

If fixing a FI unit onto a carb bike was so simple...Then it would be wonderfull.

And regarding latest and outdated technologies, I am not sure how can people determine a technology to be outdated? If a engine which is more than 40years old is called outdated...then so are Fuel injection, Twinsparks, Tumble flow, Swirl induction, cooling systems.

In a market like India, Once cant expect a 100cc bike to have the above features, And even if a makers tries to plonk a FI unit to a 125cc bike (read stunner) we know how it is recieved. Coming to R15...Yamaha claims its be be Racing DNA..

Any how, adding to the speculation spree...Same old 223CC + PGMI + Full Fairing ( => implies some internal cooling system) + Rear disc (as from pictures) + Clipons (pics) .... And stiil 99% of us dont know the other details like displacement, electrical system, type of tires, lighting system

On one side we talk this is a outdated technology and all we talk but one should not forget we got independence much more later than those developed countries, so i think we should accept and be happy the way the growth is achieved instead of cribbing, and one should know the fact that still people love the RD350, shogun, RX100 and the old Bullets, so there is no point in saying anything is outdated till till we all stop loving the oldies.

                    • OT :

I dont care if the bike would be the new fastest Indian or not .
I just want ZMR to be same as or more wonderful than the current Zma .
I dont know about others but the feel and comfort I got from the Zma was something just amazing , well atleast for me . Pure bliss , felt like gliding.

I dont care about power much , but the ride quality .
I dont care if something is old and the same even from the ancient stone age times . The main point is that it is still EFFECTIVE . It may be behind because of less goodies and less tech but actually The same old bike with the same old engine is still being compared to bikes which are developed only recently . And still it arguably is one of the best tourer we have now which is good on road as well as off road with good handling abilities and suspensions . That speaks for the bike itself .

Ps : here I am only talking about zma and absolutely not comparing with any other bike . Sorry could not help it , I love the bike .
Hope is a good thing ,
may be the best of things and
no good thing ever dies .

Get busy living or get busy dying .

I am sure everyone wants the new version of any bike to be better than anything else in the market..be it from HH, Bajaj, TVS, H, Y or S.
Simple reason? Competition improves the breed and that benefits us...
