I feel it won't be that much of a success. Reasons I feel are:-->

Firstly, the design may be different from Indian Taste.

Secondly, Cost is too high and there are FAR substitutes for seriously less cash.

Thirdly, I heard that despite 200 bhp, its gearing gives a max speed of 220 kmph.
It is not with Busa and ZX 10R. Neither is it close to Intruder. Nor close to the Bandit. What a confusing piece of machinery?

Still, 50 units is not much of a unrealistic target, ain't it?

At the end of the line, Yamaha did not give us what we want. I guess they need more years to listen to us ...

              1. Success? How do you define success? With how many units sold? Each and every SBK launched in India till date has not been for money / sales / success but for creating a brand name / brand identity. Same goes for the V-Max!

              2. See my point above. Yes the price is high - same goes the Porsche / Lambos / Bentleys being sold in India. But they sell, in limited numbers. And so will the V-Max. Do you know the bike already had eight bookings before the launch?

              3. As for the speeds - where in India can you really take the bike above 220 for miles? for minutes? The difference is in the way it reaches 100 or 150 or 200. Not close to Intruder? - do u know the Intruder's top speed?

Yamaha not giving enough? Man, how much more do you want? Their sales charts are on fire - people are loving their bikes. Even your profile says the best bike in India is the R15. I guess some of us will never be satisfied!

PS: My 2 cents. My opinion. Peace!
PPS: I m no Yamaha spokesperson. As i said, my opinion

Congratulations Yamaha for the bold step!

Agreed about sales charts on fire and people loving their bikes part. But hHow about decent after sales support? Befitting a "premium" (their words, not mine) customer like myself?

I for one, am not going to touch another Yamaha CBU until things improve with the way they go about things after they sell a product. I am in fact in the market for a bike in this price range, and have decided to go for something else altogether. Even though the V-Max is so much more awesome than the other bike I've picked.

Sorry Yamaha India, you've lost me as a customer. Good luck with the V-Max.

At the end of the day, all that a premium customer expects is to be treated atleast with respect and promptness, not like royalty (heck, after 12 lakhs there is nothing wrong in expecting even that!!), but with ur case am sure they wud have lost LOT MORE customers than one by word-of-mouth.....

So, "Sorry Yamaha India, you've lost many more customers thru one".
