Secondly, Cost is too high and there are FAR substitutes for seriously less cash.
--> why do people spend 20000 on a tissot watch when u can geta swatch at 5000 and a Gasio at 125Rs?
Thirdly, I heard that despite 200 bhp, its gearing gives a max speed of 220 kmph.
--> in the real world 1+1 is not always equal to 2, statistics are meaningless.again the watch analogy my dads tissot shows only the hours minutes and seconds whereas my g shock has a chrono and an alarm too, but

It is not with Busa and ZX 10R. Neither is it close to Intruder. Nor close to the Bandit. What a confusing piece of machinery?

--> no matter how hard i think im unable to reply to that statement, not because i agree because it is like comparing a mango with a pineapple and saying gram to gram basis mangoes make no sense..

Still, 50 units is not much of a unrealistic target, ain't it?
        -->i agree

At the end of the line, Yamaha did not give us what we want. I guess they need more years to listen to us ...

-->Damn you Yamaha for being the first to launch a litre class bike in india and a naked bike and the path breaking R15 and FZ16..

A price range of 20 lakhs... either a Ducati or a Harley?
You'd like to go in for 'something else altogether'. Seems like a cruiser then?
A prospective Harley owner then! Perhaps a Night Rod?

The VMAX also seems to have terrible mileage (well, terrible with respect to other SBK's, not with usual bikes), something like 9-10 KMPL.

I still remember the first color printout from my first system being pasted to my bedroom wall and it was none other than the first gen Vmax.. Some memories never fade away..
From then till now I'm a fan of its design and raw power
            ..
Thank You Yamaha for bringing that wonder here.. I hope atleast some dragsters or Xbhpians will buy and treasure this machine and when somebody here buys it or TR it, I'm waiting for a thread

hats off to Yamaha. at the end of the day, it's not the price anyway but the fact that it is there. won't say anything about the price because i can't afford it here in near future even if it was say 16 lakhs. and fuel consumption discussion is absolutely meaningless. but hey with all the finance options available somebody next door might own it and have a small piece of the impossible realized after all. Kudos!!

So, "Sorry Yamaha India, you've lost many more customers thru one".

Discussion about fuel consumption is very much relevant with any bike. Even with the V-max. Even a difference of 2 or 3 kmpl makes a lot of difference when computing the approx range over a full tank while touring.

This is a great announcement for all the posers with fat wallets

The V-Max will be a great purchase in the second-hand market for those who REALLY want one for a variety of reasons:

                        1. Posers bore easily - they'll want the newest and greatest every other day
                        2. The V-Max will not do duty as a tourer because it will be sensitive to fuel quality and the range on a full tank will be enough to get you PRECISELY to the middle of nowhere
                        3. Watch out for bikers getting a bad name...AGAIN...as posers take to the streets for impromptu drag races.

On a less cynical note...they must have really worked hard to get that bike in at 20L. I wonder if it will come under the radar of the DRI like the Hayabusas did (under-invoicing).

It is a fantastic bike...just not the kind of bike I am looking for.

                        I'm not a poser see...

OT: Akhil's case made clear that yamaha failed to promptly deliver the service which a premium customer deserves. When it comes to service backup, they are not as well equipped as in the matter of sales and this clearly gives yamaha a bad name, but i feel that even other manufactures (Honda-suzuki-Ducati) might not be equipped to handle major issues in their bikes and would not have parts ready for replacement in their workshops. So the question is why are they not improving things that are supposed to be there in the first place?? By the end of the year it would be 2 years and still seeing the customers suffer is simply not worth it.
                            Peace.

Fantastic...Its such a beautiful thing that these CULT Bikes will be available legally in the Indian Market...
Yes one can call them overpriced and all that, but for every biker these are the stuff that fuel the dreams of owning one such Cult bike here....
That makes every dreamer One Step Closer to this Muse...

But I do agree that Yam should treat their premium customers with some respect and concentrate on making the Ownership experience of such bikes better..

Touchwood I haven't had a major issue with my MT01 yet but I am not confident Yamaha will support me if/when I do. The 2 year warranty is just bull if you ask me. Clear-cut mechanical failures are rejected by the yamaha support team - what then do we need a 2-year warranty for?

I don't need to buy a 20L bike to seek legal counsel if they stiff me over the warranty...12L is more than enough to motivate me to hit them with everything I've got.

But after seeing what happened to Akhil's and a few other R1s (no names unless they want to come out with the info) - I'm looking towards switching to the Italians as well...
