My two thoughts penned down -

Absolutely horrendous to see this state of affairs. About not altering - then why would Schumi get a penalty for stalling his car in the qualifying? It's absolutely not fair!!!

This might see Championship points withdrawn as well!! It's something that has to be dealt with very seriously!!!

Hmmm valid point, but, the Schumacher era was considered to be boring with only Ferrari and Schumacher dominating each race week in an week out ... everybody wanted to see some excitement back in F1 , now we've got it , albeit some of the wrong sort as well ... but thats sport , scandals are part of it ... I'm sure it'll bounce back from this scandal ... how many people stopped watching cricket after the India South Africa match fixing scandal ??? or so many other incidents ... it's still a religion here in India ... same for F1 may not be as popular as cricket but enjoyable nonetheless ... I'm sticking to F1 hoping that it'll come back ... about MotoGP , that's awesome as well but didn't MotoGP also switch to single tyre supplier to level the playing field ?

just my opinion , no offence meant to anyone .

Shame on Renault

The Renault Formula One team were on Monday handed a two year suspended ban by the International Automobile Federation (FIA) for ordering Nelson Piquet junior to crash in the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix.

The verdict was handed down by the sport's governing body the International Automobile Federation (FIA) after a one-and-a half-hour hearing at their Paris headquarters on Monday.

Renault were in the dock for conspiring with Piquet junior to cause a deliberate crash to help the Brazilian's teammate, Fernando Alonso, win the race.

The French outfit could have faced permanent exclusion from the sport over 'crashgate' as the affair became known but escaped that ultimate sanction after the departure of Piquet, team boss Flavio Briatore and chief engineer Pat Symonds.

As well as Renault's suspended ban, Briatore himself was handed an "unlimited" ban from the sport while Symonds was suspended for five years.

Piquet junior and Alonso were among those who appeared before the FIA hearing after which the 26 members of the World Motor Sports Council met to decide what action to take.

This is just a one off scenario that something has been brought to light. think about what else would be going on inside the teams

guys I didn't quite understand that statement from the FIA ... it says that the disqualification of renault has been suspended until 2011 ... so , does that mean they area allowed to compete ? or not ? ... it says that the disqualification will be activated only if renault breach the code of conduct again ... so that has to mean they can compete , right ?

^^^ Renault is suspended from racing for two years now but they reserve the option to disqualify the team if need be (how ever it is, not sure) within this two years. May be that would be decided upon further investigation.
