I don't think they'll open this track to the public...we'll start spitting all over the place and making a mess in general.

First of all - is this thing getting built? Haven't seen anything in the news...
We are beggers in the race track sense, we hardly have any around the country and i am not really sure if there are elevations or not in the track, all we see here is a drawing.
If they don't open the track to the public how are they going to get revenue to sustain it, i don't think they will make that much money by just hosting one F1 race and the track in chennai, which is open to public-dirty by the people visting. I am sure they can take steps to avoid it.
As for it being built, Jaypee group who are building it, have started a housing project along it with one of the USP's of the project being that its near a race track and a cricket stadium. As my dad is interested in the housing project, we will be going over on sunday to see the site, hope to have more update on sunday.

I dont know why we are argueing about. Lets hope the best if this layout turns into a actual track.
F1 & MOTOGP are on a different league. Constructing a massive track with all the amunities is not a small thing. By hosting 2 races(1 for F1 & other MOTOGP) they can do well for a year. FIA & FIM are very strict. Buy opening to the public would be a bad idea because of number of reasons like tarmac, safety, electricity, hotels etc....etc.... & it wont be cheap. So many countries have race tracks but few gets selected by going through lot of investigation. Its hard work Guys. SO FINGERS CROSSED.

it is stated to be ready by mid 2011 and a great track like monza which is a regular feature on the F1 calender is open to the public, i think this should also be open to the public but maybe after the first F1 race.

Guys, i went to see the project on sunday. They had a nice on-site office for booking of the flats and plots that are coming up around the track, it looks like Jaypee is making a small township, but it is very far atleast 60 km from Delhi border.
But now for the good news-- The construction work has started on the track though its at a very early stage, i could only see big construction machines. And i also asked the on-site head of Jaypee if the track will be open for public use, he said not till the first race F1 race but will operate like most tracks around the world, he also said you would have to be member of a motorsports club to use the track.
So now i hope the work doesn't get delayed...
