  • Suzuki's 3 Premium Bikes for 2010.

Suzuki Motorcycles had a rather quiet appearance at the Auto Expo 2010 with no new launches. In fact the company did not even set up a separate section for their bikes and instead simply put up the motorcycles amongst the Maruti Suzuki cars. The imported motorcycles on display included the Hayabusa and Intruder which have already been launched in India. It was interesting to see the GSX-R600 and the SV650S also on display. Sources close to company claim that there is a 600cc superbike that the company is probably homologating for the Indian market and our guesses are on the SV650S. Not only is the bike a lot more practical for city use as well as touring, but it also comes in cheaper than the Gixxer600 (might get a sub-8 lakh ex-showroom tag) and leaves the sportbiking avenue open for the GSX-R1000.

The sources also hint that Suzuki is working on getting a 250cc motorcycle to the Indian market to start off their own performance bikes’ line-up. We hear that there are three bikes scheduled for 2010 and though there is not even the slightest of hints of the third bike, we hope to see the Gixxer1000 or the monstrous B-King. Fingers crossed!

My Comments: Guys, Take this SV650 news with a pinch of salt. Most of all, read the specific words carefully.

The sources just mentioned its a 600, and it is BI's guess on SV650. It's most probably Gladius as mentioned by Economic Times.

However, a 250cc for Indian market seems good. I just hope its a genuine deal, not some air cooled 2 valve rip-off for masses...

As for the 3rd bike, it might be the GSX 1000R, but taken the strong position held by CBR and R1 in terms of performance, this third bike might be something else too...

And know what? This reminds me that a new suzuki showroom just opened near my house, on Jaipur Road...

I think the 250cc will be priced similar to ninja. If it is priced anywhere near a lakh of rupees it'll be great. But seems unlikely.

a 250 for 1 L is too optimistic, but hope for the best.

can be possible....suzuki has always given cheaper bikes with incredible engines and handling...they dont concentrate too much on the looks.....its more of mechanics u can expect from them..

if suzuki is going to launch a 250cc mini sbk like ninja250 with good power n looks then we have to sell out our bikes 2 "KABADI walas"....

              HOPE ITS NOT MINI BKING.
              n it cant be..because b king fr 1.5lac odd.."bike impossible"

We all had heard similar rumors about the Ninja.. and look what happened..

My point was that it should be a "GENUINE" performing vehicle, with good technology packed in... Any reasonable price be it.

Like if a Suzuki 250cc air cooled 2 valve makes 18-19 bhp, it won't be likable, as we have alternatives to such vehicle already...
It should be in Ninja's league, not karizma's league ... (no offence, just clarifying my meaning)

I have edited my 1st post to clarify this.

Samarth- i dont see anything wrong with it being a 2 valve air cooled engine mate.it still can make 25 + useable ps.

A bike with decent toque and power figures are needed rather than having a mental block that it has to be a 4v LC and it will perform , thats not the case all the time .

                        Id prefer a 250 v twin

                            remember the Comet..................anyone??? Vtwin,27bhp,4yrs back????
Well Hyosung's Comets(250 & 650) used Suzuki's SV line up engines. And Hyosung's Comet was nothing but a Suzuki SV series 250cc(technologywise - as there has been no SV250 Suzuki production model),when it comes to the mill.

4 years since technology has moved up, a 250cc SV mill can do around 35 easy horses and if it is a GSXR series 250........then it will be a truckload of horses. However I am more into facts, so lets wait n watch. One more thing I heard the Ninja 250 costs around 2.5L here.Well Suzuki is likely to make the 250 in India and would retail for 1.5L INR at the most.
