The New R ONE, 2009

Well the 09 R1 is a little disappointing for me. Not that I was going to buy it but I liked the older ones. I think the "exposed" projector headlamps looks kind of vulnerable. Moreover the rear looks fat and really ugly. It might be sharp, it might be agile but it doesn't "look" like one.Last edited by leon_nerd; 09-23-2008, 01:19 PM.Enna Rascalla. Mind it !!!

Thanks Ken for breaking the news on the forum.
As I reported early August, I received info that the 09 R1 would be launched soon, and there was a chance that I could be able to attend the launch in Las Vegas. It so happened that I left for the US on business in 1st week of this month and was able to fly out to Las Vegas for a day and attend the launch, albeit after all the fanfare was over.
I even got a chance to ride the new R1 for about 150 miles and although the initial impressions overwhelmed me, I realised that I am not such a big fan of this iteration. More to follow soon.Last edited by rossiter; 09-23-2008, 08:19 AM."Tough times never last, but tough people do." - Robert Schuller

not yet..they have the R1 colored in M1 graphics..but not the new one..
the guy told me it'' be displayed either late this year or early next year..
but gotta say..im so desperate to see such an advanced motor in real flesh

The M1 graphicked R1 by KRP has been around since the beginning. Good thing you told us. I nearly hired a Taxi to go and check. Now I can shelve my problem.Originally posted by R-series View Postnot yet..they have the R1 colored in M1 graphics..but not the new one..

The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

@Ken_cool: u need not worry..which ever R1 is there..its not the 2009 model..so u can need not take any hassels. they have the MT01 which i know u have seen, the 2 R1s that are there one is the stock 2008 R1 and the other is the Fiat Yamaha M1 type..got slick tyres as well, if ur interested

well the advantage the new R1 holds with that same front is..slight weight reduction by loss of 1 set of headlights and bigger air intakes for better ram jet effectOriginally posted by inder.cool View PostHow come Yamaha has provided only 2 headlights(1 at each side).. this time in the '09 model(instead of 4 till the '08 one)..!!??
.
not to mention that those projector type lamps look deadly too

At that amazing level, there is more to motorcycle manufacturing than just a set of headlights. I hope people are noticing the HUGE difference there is in that small part that connects the two wheels called the motor which has been effectively relegated to near oblivion in our part of the world where all that matters is stickers, colours, lampshades and such like paraphernalia! The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

I agree with ken but then too I loved the projector lamps. The lamps look really naked and with the black intakes in the background give the R a deadly look. I sort of like as of now
.
The bike looks a bit bulky & muscular than the 2008 ver. Hope this doesnot effect itz ride quality.
The yam guy in mumbai said it will be available in mid of 2009
.
Does the R have optional ABS like the CBR.------------

I do not think there is ABS on any Race Replicas. Correct me if I am wrong.Originally posted by cosgeo99 View PostI agree with ken but then too I loved the projector lamps. The lamps look really naked and with the black intakes in the background give the R a deadly look. I sort of like as of now
