  • Bajaj KTM 125 cc to cost more than INR 1 lac

Pune - the second-largest motorcycle maker India, Bajaj Auto, along with KTM will finally launch its model starting next year.

Motor will be assembled at the factory Pune India, and will be marketed under KTM brand with prices of more than 100 000 rupees, with the first market of Europe then India.

"This product will be launched first in Europe and later in India," said Bajaj Auto CEO Unit 2W, S. Sridhar, as reported by Economic Times, Thursday (03/06/2010).

With bright naked bike compact designs typical Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM, with the support of 125 cc engine-powered 15 bhp makes this bike really as economical in consumption of motor fuels.

And although scattered motor sport in India with greater engine capacity, but do not doubt its performance and its features are already showing European standards.

Features advanced technologies such as liquid cooling, dual disc brakes, suspension monoshock certainly become the standard of this motorcycle.

But whether consumers will turn away from the Pulsar 220, Yamaha R15 Karizma ZMR and to choose the KTM brand? Looks like the market's reaction is unpredictable, but the fans really will be happy.

An 125 costs more than 1Lac??????

125cc Bikes india starts from 50K and can produce somewhere between 10 - 11 bhp....

But just for another 4bhp paying more that 50K is not audible....

If the buyer has more money he will definetely like to invest it on a bigger bike.....not for an Puny 125....

But yes as said we cannot predict about the Market......
      Anything may happen......

Thats what people said bout the R-15, a puny 150 cc as well. Now we think its worth the money. i think, the same would apply to KTM once its launched.

125CC & 15 Bhp!!! Well what would be the compression ratio & the engine type? Air or Liquid cooled? Looks like inverted telescopic fronts like Comet. Anyway price tag seems to be little steeper, however in course of time, I'm sure Yamaha, KTM & Kwacker will justify their own prices.

doesn't look like ..its gonna launch in india ...

in india its mandatory to have RVM,saree guard, and mudguards + from number plate...

if all of the above comes to this bike .. imagine the how it might look..they may need to go for redesign of the bike

The Yamaha YZF R125 sells in Europe at almost the same price point as the Ninja 250R (i.e at around 3 lakhs Indian Rupees) .. The R125 also makes 15Ps, but it does have a Super Sport mimicking full fairing though.

By the way, the KTM 125 is being developed specifically for European and Export markets and so it will get the best cycle parts.

So what will the KTM 125 will cost in Europe? Go figure..

But yes, in India people will find it hard to shell out 1 lakh plus for a 125 cc bike, especially when it doesn't have a "Full Fairing".

even in Europe you cannot register a bike without RVMs.

At least there is actual power output. I think it has capability to do better no.s than Stunner FI.

i dont think that if the yamaha would launch the R125 with such a price tag in india. It may have such a price tag in europe but not in India. Because the R15 is more powerful & advanced than R125 but still it has got a price tag of around 1 lakh only. So the price of the R125 would be less than that of R15. I heard that it would carry a price tag of around <90,000.

yes ofcourse it has a better out put than the stunner fi. But did that extra cost has been justified?? Any person like me would rather go for a p220 which is more powerfull & would still save some money or else would add a few more bucks & would buy a R15 which is much better comparetively.

I think the KTM will sell at 1 lakh for a 125cc. For the styling and tech that it offers. The R15/FZ etc have opened up pathways that the KTM can capitalize on.

A number of posts are in the vein that a 125cc should be priced at a certain position, its not about the cc determining the cost of the bike, its about what the whole package is.

And the KTM, even at 125cc, is a package which is advanced that the R15 even. So the price is justified.

People are getting wiser, and there will be a market for this bike as well.

My offerings to the gods of speed -

                          - KTM Duke 200
                          - Yamaha RXZ 5 speed

for the umpteenth time, "the R125 is NOT coming to India"

Every small component will be made keeping in mind the demanding European customer in mind. Be it the Fuel Injection, upside down forks, branded alloy wheels and even branded handlebars.

Exactly the same reason why the R125 CANNOT ever come to India, since its "expensive" parts will never let it be priced <90K as you has "Heard".
