I wonder where the people who bought these bikes in Bangalore ride them? highways? Sounds suicidal. Competing with "loco" state transport bus drivers for road space. I once saw a Gixxer in Jayanagar 3rd block in heavy traffic. really pointless. Where's the space to ride it at a decent pace?.....
.... What will you do if some guy whacks you from behind? Such an expensive and beautiful thing suffers damage. Heartbreaking not to mention you feel like dealing a painful death to the as***le who did it. What about parking space?.............................If only we had a race track in Bangalore....

Just the kind of feelings i had before I bought my ninja. But then, i have seen that quite a few SBK owners just buy these big toys to flaunt it, show off and score brownies with the chicks. The more serious ones who actually ride well, use the bikes on the track or very early in the mornings (like me) when the traffic is light and when the roads are safe. Even I am not comfy using the bike in traffic and encounter such a situation when I am returning back from a ride or heading for a ride really late into the night.

P.S. There is a racetrack in chennai which is only a few hours away. All the more reason to ride.

exactly most of the people who own sbks dont even know the power figures of the bike let alone the model year, they themselves say " DHOOM BIKE hai mere pass" -how pathetic , many of these posers ride without helmets ,why u ask - so that chicks can see their faces ,
one r1 owner near my house wears rossi agv ti-tech helmet with a banian and burmudas with bata hawaii chappal, dont forget the a-star gloves too.
all these people wud have bought these coz some fool wud have told them they can pick up a lot of chicks with them
you should also have a feel ofthe " i am greater than god " look on their faces when some passerbuy asks abt their bike.

I find this line of argument very tiresome.

Just because there is traffic in the city, or errant bus drivers on highways, one can't buy superbikes? And you are just as likely to get rear ended on a normal Indian bike, as a superbike.

FYI, I ride my R1 sparingly on the street. And I live in Bangalore. Most of my usage is on the track nowadays, but there used to be a time when I'd commute 4 times a week on the R1. And with the service centres in the city, I'd have to ride through traffic and everything. Just like you do. It's no different.

@rossister sir : +1 to what you said.

We can't stop riding our rides thinking about others, if you are confident enough that you and your ride will be back home without any scratches there is no harm in taking it out but to be in limits too

@Serious Black : Don't know how Jayanagar looks, so wont comment on that but errant drivers, bus drivers are everywhere, one can't help it. Regarding parking space, a SBK always get "special" attention, believe me when I say , if you own a SBK (I wish you do soon), you will not park it at "any" spot , one will think twice before leaving his garage where he is going to park it.

You should have been there when I had met the Bajaj officials! They were hell bent on proving that sbk[ R series] is waste on Indian roads. But in due time, they will realise their losing share and will have to bring the ZX10R for sure!

For years+, we have been discussing this pointless topic on Xbhp. And now, it feels tired to even read a post about it.

People who want it and can purchase it, will purchase it for sure. If they can't find enough space, they'll ride in 1st gear @ 2krpm... So what??

I saw one Red CBR1000 RR (maybe 2006-7 model) in my city recently and, the guy on it could hardly move that large grunty thing in the 2 lane road & the city traffic. (Exhaust note was awesome though!)

But, he was riding it, despite all the problems, that too slower than my Pulsar... So? He might have his own reasons for riding it...

traffic is increasing at such a pace allover that i think its better to ride 100-125 cc bikes in cities

You can see many SBKs in the north east and the hilly areas of India because there is a hell lot of money there, one of my friends father owns few shop in Itanagar, there is a widespread looting of the natives there, and the wealthy people are looted by the Insurgents there!even if there is money they cant enjoy it.How can you ride a hayabusa In hilly areas of Guwahati?if you venture in the isolated hilly highways you will be looted by the Insurgents or even you may be killed!

When the SBK's start making inroads into our local second hand bike dealers THEN that will be news.
