After this and the Splendor Pro, just hope it doesn't start a rush of 100cc "Cafe racers" .

Um, its not always about the cc, is it? why don't you understand the basic.. are the Cafe Racers even available in India other than the CGT? these might go good on sales and you will never know how they perform unless and until you have tried it. Some people might Love the CGT because of the cafe racer looks and since it is out of their pockets, they might not go for it. in that place, these cafe racers will do wonders.

That being said, Mahindra/JCMoto's concept looks way cooler than Hero's design. The only letdown is the large void of emptiness between the tank and the horizontally-mounted engine! And Mahindra's model of launching a custom house might just work out well, provided the prices are realistic. Heck, I will happily go in for a 100-cc custom which gives me all the bling for 60kpl and the reliability of a stock machine.

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

Not sure if cafe racer has a definiiton on CC, but its good to see that Indians are thinking differently. No more multiple variants of 100cc bikes. This year we have seen two new things happening
          1) Higher cc bikes by all Indian manufacturers
          2) Concept bikes in terms of classics.

I personally like Mahindra scrambler. Hero cafe racer is missing something, and i am not clear whats that.

now coming to the basics, the whole idea behind the cafe racer was to strip down a motorcycle to its bare essentials at the cost of comforts for short rides and try touching the ton, ie 100 mph or 160 km/h.

now try achieving that on a 100cc engine. i hope this is enough basics ?
            peace

If you notice the foot rest on of the Splendor Cafe Racer, it is clear that they just changed the body and forgot about the foot rest. In cafe racer, the foot rest will not be like how it is on a commuter

not really. if that is the case India can never have good cafe racers. think of it from an Indian point of view.. you are talking about the Cafe Racers from abroad, but for an Indian, not even our Indian ports bike go anywhere near that speed till this years launch.. so according to me. what Mahindra and Hero did is a good move.. these bikes will be affordable and loved by people who are complete noobs..

I modified my Splendor to look like a CBR back in the year 2003.. so many people who can't afford costly machines would admire it and even buy it.. doing this, they have a reliable machine which comes with OEM parts and not cheap parts we get in local markets
