Re: AE14: Mahindra Mojo in its new avatar at the Auto Expo 2014

After recently unveiling the revamped version of the Mahindra Mojo at the 2014 Auto Expo, we caught a glimpse of the bike being tested just outside Pune. Judging by the looks of the test bike that was caught in an uncamouflaged state, it seems to be very close to its production stage. It’s been a while now as the Mojo has been on the cards with little available news trickling out, although we do now believe the Mojo will finally launch in the coming months.
Based on the second iteration of the Mojo seen at the 2014 Auto Expo and the image seen here, the front cowl with flush-set twin headlamps has been reworked with DRLs (daytime running lights). Unlike the integrated LED turn indicators in the mirrors, seen on the first Mojo in 2010, the revamped edition gets indicators bolted onto the front cowl. The tank showcases redesigned knee recesses that blend in well with the overall flow of the bike. The bike gets two horizontally flowing golden bars below the tank, which has become a typical styling quotient on offer by Mahindra, followed by radiator shrouds that look like gills. The Indian company has provided a slightly stepped seat, with individually placed grab rails for the pillion. The rear flashes a nicely designed mudguard, with an LED tail-light sitting on top.
Mahindra has already stated that the Mojo will use a 292cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke, liquid-cooled and fuel-injected engine. Its four-valve head will deploy dual-overhead camshafts and the liquid-cooled engine shall generate maximum power in the region of 25.8bhp, with peak torque of about 2.5kgm.
The Mojo gets one-into-two stubby looking exhaust canisters placed on either side of the bike. As seen previously, the Mojo uses top spec upside down front forks, coupled with a rear monoshock, bolted onto a swingarm that too gets a splash of gold on it. Judging from the test rider’s posture on the bike, the handlebar and centre-set footrests are placed to offer an upright riding stance. For stopping power, the Mahindra Mojo is equipped with a single front and rear disc brake.
We look forward to seeing this new Mahindra motorcycle in showrooms across India this year. It will be interesting to see how Mahindra prices and positions their flagship model, with KTM and Bajaj having set a tall example in the same segment, with competitive pricing for their recently launched KTM 390 Duke streetbike

I am not sure how you say high price when the bike hasnt even been launched.. besides.. it can be a marketing strategy.. however only a fool will get justifiedOriginally posted by visco View PostMahindras known for their marketing gimmick. It will give multi cylinder look and help their justification for high price.
And as far as I Know.. Mahindra is known for decent product at cheaper price point..

Re: AE14: Mahindra Mojo in its new avatar at the Auto Expo 2014
I beg to differ. Remember the first version of stallio from Mahindra two wheelers few years back. It was a disaster from day one. It developed serious gear box issues. Production stopped. I feel pity for the poor souls who bought the version 1 of stallio and mahindra made them guinea pigs to test the bike at the expense of customers. Years later centuro launched. Have a closer look of the bike. It has age old circular swing arm which has the tendency to twist while all other bikes migrated to rectangular swing arm.Originally posted by rreneav1987 View PostI am not sure how you say high price when the bike hasnt even been launched.. besides.. it can be a marketing strategy.. however only a fool will get justified

Mahindra is slightly cheap and the product quality is also cheap, definitely not decent and one have to live with niggles of their product.
Are you saying those who bought mahindra stallio version 1 are fools?

I am no one to say who is a fool or not. That was their first attempt at two wheelers.. and probably thats why they are testing Mojo for a longer duration..Originally posted by visco View PostI beg to differ. Re: AE14: Mahindra Mojo in its new avatar at the Auto Expo 2014
As Far As I Know, the Yezdi Road King 250 used to come with a Single cylinder head and two exhausts.. I loved the beat of that bike.. I still love it and I am ready to take one if I find in good condition.. Lets see how the bike sounds in flesh than imagining and ridiculingOriginally posted by hss View PostIsn't Mojo a single cylinder? Then why two exhausts?

Mahindra Mojo:
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
Mahindra Mojo 300 was showcased to dealers in Pune recently along with rest of Mahindra two wheelers that are about to launch very soon. Mr. Rajkumar had the fortune of finding a Pune registered Mojo test mule resting to quench its thirst for petrol at Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu.
Spied Mahindra Mojo 300 was not wearing any wriggly black on white camouflage. Black colour Mojo looks almost identical in terms of physical characteristics to the one showcased at 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. Mr. Rajkumar managed to take a video of instrument console performing POST (Power On Self Test), in which the unit lights up like a christmas tree. Highlight of that is LED lights on tacho’s circumference trailing the needle point in animation effect. Watch video below:
Instrument cluster has an LCD Multi Function Display backlit in blue colour. It shows basic readings like vehicle speed, odo & tripmeter value, fuel gauge and time. Front dome of Mahindra Mojo 300 has twin headlamps with eyebrow like LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL). Font suspension has USD (Up-Side Down) shocks.
295cc single cylinder engine with Dual Over Head Camshaft (DOHC) on Mahindra Mojo produces 27 bhp max. power at 8000 rpm and 25 Nm peak torque at 6500 rpm, mated to 6 speed transmission. Mr. Rajkumar learned from test rider that Mojo can do top speed of 148 kmph. Bike in pictures is said to be ABS equipped. More on tech specs of Mojo 300 here.
Motor Vikatan claims that Mahindra Mojo 300 will launch in 3 weeks. Rest of Mahindra two wheelers awaiting launch date are G101 scooter, Rodeo UZO 125 scooter, Centuro Disc brake variant, Centuro Rockstar and Mahindra Arro.

148 kmph ?? not a bad speed for a naked 300cc producing 27 bhp

Re: AE14: Mahindra Mojo in its new avatar at the Auto Expo 2014
Hmm.....it looks awesome . Why do I have a feeling that Mahindra is going to place a lower price than expected for this chick , mainly to sell huge volumes and make a decent name of themselves in the ever growing Indian market
?
Mahindra should have high expectations from Mojo (btw interesting name , remember powerpuff girls
) !
