Yamaha finally launched the much awaited YZF R1 at Italian motorcycle expo. The 2015 version of the bike is 'All New' and sports a new crossplane motor called the CP4 engine. This new motor produces 200 hp according to the company. This immense power is achieved by 10.5 litre airbox, titanium exhaust, and fracture split con-rods. Following in the footsteps of other global manufacturers this bike has a host of new electronics in the form of traction control, slide control, launch control, wheel-lift control, and ABS. The bike also has the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) to coordinate the plethora of electronics on.

For weight reduction, the R1 has magnesium wheels and rear sub frame. Headlights are now LED and one can even communicate with the bike!!! The R1 gets the Communication Control Unit (CCU) as optional which allows the rider to download GPS data and upload rider settings!

Valentino Rossi, Yamaha MotoGP Rider rode the new R1 onto the stage and spoke about the strengths of the new motorcycle.

A very different looking Yamaha bike. But I like it. Looks like the traditional looking twin headlamps are soon going to be out of fashion.

Re: Yamaha YZF R1 Launched at EICMA 2014

Is it just me or the bike seems to have lost the R1 charm? Looks like they inserted the 2 headlamps in a concept bike's fairing. Personally I DO NOT like the bike's looks. This has made the R25 look so much more beautiful now

Coming to the technology, that is surely to heat up the competition now! Looking forward to some serious heat between the S1000RR, ZX-10R, Panigale and this!!

it will take some time before the looks grows on everyone.

                  200 bhp ..goodness...!!

and fully loaded with technology, but does it have something like bmw dynamic suspension??

underslug exhaust can part is looking weird from some angles.

The Blue coloured R1 gives me the chills, the red is smoking HOT!!.But the red doesn't impress me at all, usually red is the colour for flagship models.

I agree with you!! The oomph factor with this design seems to have gone atleast for me! Looks very familiar to the new R3 which is not a good thing since this is a premium series bike!!

But the technology looks good, we have to see how to it stands to the new 1299 Panigale!!

Personally I didn't like the looks at all. It seems like the eyes have been stretched down. It seems like Yamaha is coming out of the conventional design and a new design era is starting, Hope this design will be more innovated and will have the same effect as the previous R1s had on everyone till date. The technology is fabulous. Yamaha has done a fantastic job at this dept. Also I guess Yamaha hasn't left any chance for questions to be asked about the handling.

Stunning. Yes, the projectors may be look a little out of place but minus that, the bike is nothing but hotness! As close you can get to an M1 as possible. That front air scoop! Wow!
