BMW unveiled the S1000 XR at EICMA 2014, an Adventure Touring bike with an engine from the BMW S1000RR!
The BMW S1000 XR uses the same 998cc engine from the S1000RR. The engine is in similar configuration as the S1000R. The XR will be powered by 160 hp at 11000 rpm and 112 Nm at 9250 rpm. The bike unlike the GS series of motorcycles from the same stable is more road friendly, rather than being meant for the gravel! Thus BMW have thrown their hat in the ring along with the Ducati Multistrada 1200.
The S1000 XR comes with two riding modes - Rain and Road. The bike also gets Automatic Stability Control, Dynamic Traction Control and ABS as electronics. The bike boasts good bottom end torque to ride roads and gravel with luggage. Electronic Suspension Adjustment on the other hand is optional. The ABS on the bike can be switched off for having that extra bit of fun when required! The bike will also have top notch accessories for all your touring needs.
