When were Superbikes and hypercars practical? These "technological masturbation" are a must to keep excitement in life. Ultimately some of that technology does seep down to daily used cars and bikes.

Re: Kawasaki H2R revealed at Intermot
Need part doesn't make sense to me either... There is no need for performance motorcycles anywhere in the world... There is no need for cricket or rock climbing either. Leisure activities go beyond need, they are a want. Riding a technological marvel will make you feel good, that is most important in a leisure activity. Bragging rights are important in their own right, again they make you feel good.
You might not be using all those horses all the time, but knowing you have the ability is a big plus.
There are lot of people around the world that have bikes specifically for track riding that are not used for street riding. For such use I think the h2r would be among the greatest tools. Imagine the acceleration and speed that you can experience. And if their is no other machine in the world that can do that I think this would be the greatest buy.
What better tool for breakfast rides than the street legal H2?? Of course you won't be able to use all the power, I can't even do that on my 650, does that mean the guy who bought a speed triple wasted his money??
If I ever have a couple of tens of lacs extra I know where that money is going

I agree friend if everything was need based then development and progress in all fields of life would be slow. There was no need for cars as horse carriages were fine, no need for electricity as candle light was fine. H2R is a beautiful machine man only sad that I'll never get to own such a machine.

Re: Kawasaki H2R revealed at Intermot
Try giving a bike with scratches to your local drunk car wash guy and see the results. This piece of machine is never meant for practical purpose. If that's your statement, all superbikes are outcome of 'Technological Masturbation', except Kawasaki has taken it to a whole new level. Guys with **** can take it, rest can brag about it all day long.Originally posted by Cleaner View PostDid Kawasaki just unveiled a demo bike at Intermot? Looks dirty and full of scratches to me, even our local car wash guy can do a better job at detailing than that while being drunk.
Fine pieces of technology, and engineering marvel, but in my opinion, it is just "technological masturbation" like the MTT Y2K. Serves 0 practical purpose.R15S - Current

Come on man. You know what doesn't serve practical purpose, FUN. Lots of people who saw my duke 390 asked me the price, and when I told them said "you could have bought a car for that money" and at every step I controlled the urge to educate them about fun factor and passion as it is wasted on them. Biking in general seems impractical when we look at the safety, load carrying capacity, and comfort of a car. And you're right about H2R being techno- masturbation. But is there a better kind. If you ask me as far as technological masturbation is concerned, this bike was a "bloody good shag". Pat on kawasaki's back. 😜

I am guessing one tyre change per accidental burnout with 300ps. LOL 😜

The mileage that you mention (2000 or so, miles) is if it is driven "sanely" (at probably 300 kmph). The point is - it is still able to transfer power from the wheel to the tarmac; but it has to sacrifice longevity in the bargain. The H2 here, brings one to the sublimity of speed as close as possible at probably much lesser price than the Veyron; and the associated costs. Shouldn't be a problem to one, who can actually afford this bike.
Wow I mean "sanely at 300kmph".😵 Gives me goose bumps.

there is huge difference when we compare a [road going H2 vs S1000RR/HP4] and a [blade vs p150]
H2 is not displacing anything more. It takes serious research and engineering efforts to produce such things. That justifies the river mark.
In more mature markets there is a place for such products.
On another note, at 200 HP at crank, 1 L street spec bikes where almost approaching a limit, only way to push further was artificial aspiration aids.
All my opinion.
The H2 if not for tracks for serious races can be used for drag against modded bikes and not necessarily against other less powerful super sports. What say?
