great writeup... loved it
my heart's burning...Originally posted by Old Fox View PostThe punch is heady, hits you below the solar plexus with a rush and a howl and you want to get hit again and again. Traffic seems at a stand-still around you, so rapid is the acceleration in any gear and at any speed. Just roll that throttle and you pass others like point and shoot.

Thanks everyone. My words somehow HAD to do justice to the steed I rode and believe me, the 'writing' part was tougher than the 'riding' part.
@Aryan: Co-incidence! You did your first ride on the Delhi-Jaipur road too. Your ride and the write-up thereafter did cross my mind while riding.
Thanks @archi & naman
@sheel: Christmas is just round the corner and Santa does fulfill the wishes of good boys. Just wondering how you're gonna get that huge sock for him to put in your 'One into

@ Gaurav: The bike is 'tiring' to ride long but somehow one never actually 'gets tired' of riding it.
Its that punch I believe.
Ride long and safe...

That was quite simply one of the most amazing write up's Ive ever read OF sirOriginally posted by Old Fox View PostRiding the banshee
It was word after word of sheer brilliance..
Justice can be done, only by the generous use of superlatives..
The recommendations have been duly noted for the day I have a tryst with the 'One..
That leaves us with the obvious question..
Anyone out there willing to swap your 'One for my Uni on a 500m 'journey'..?

I completed 200kms. straight on the R1 without even a single break!
THAT was the best part about the whole experience..

Thanks all for the appreciation. A great bike, I guess, brings out the best of 'everything' from a motorcyclist's life.
Thanks Maverick. And your offer for a 500 mtr exchange just might get takenOriginally posted by MavericK46 View PostThat leaves us with the obvious question..

The best here for me was getting stuck in a huge traffic jam at Kotputli due to a kisan rally. And then hustling the 'One through that mess like I do my ZMA. Thats when the One and I became friendsOriginally posted by Aryan View PostYes! It is but a co-incidence..

This was my first 'long' ride on litre class. Done a few minutes here and there over the years on other bikes, the first and most memorable one being way back in the late '80's on a 1956 model Ariel Square Four (a 500cc actually but I personally consider it the litre equivalent to today's bikes)Originally posted by nabendubasu View Post@old fox:nice writeup sir ji,was it your first ride on a litterclass bike or first ride on high ways in litter class bike?
Its not just you who thinks so. Almost everyone we crossed in town and on the road looked askance first at the '15 before shifting gaze to the 'One.BTW that R15 in red and white combo looks more yammy than the R1

Amen to that sirOriginally posted by Old Fox View PostThanks all for the appreciation. A great bike, I guess, brings out the best of 'everything' from a motorcyclist's life.

I started loving city riding only when I realised that the Unicorn is a bike that loves corners to straights.. For sheer straight line ability i'd give the Uni a 5 on 10.. Quite simply no punch once you get past 80 clicks..
For handling abilities though she gets a niner
The Banshee (kinda liked the name for the 'One) on the other hand will be orgasmic to behold.. Im sure she can pretty much take anything you throw at her
Some cornering exploits in explicit detail we needs..!!
Im waiting for you to arrive in Bangalore.. Can i take an hour to complete the 500 meters though..?Originally posted by Old Fox View PostThanks Maverick. And your offer for a 500 mtr exchange just might get taken

Post that c/o Santa Claus : Alaska or North Pole or whateverOriginally posted by sheelpriye View PostI would like to replace the one with the blade.
. Hell! I am not even santa singh man!
Good choice BTW.
Will express my feelings in one short crisp sentence: I do not have the guts to wring her neck in ANY gear and at ANY speed. It is no joke that I've named her 'Banshee'. (maybe another 5000 clicks on the odo under me could change things though)Originally posted by MavericK46 View PostThe Banshee (kinda liked the name for the 'One) on the other hand will be orgasmic to behold.. Take two. I never knew you so wanted to 'walk' an R1 on the leashIm waiting for you to arrive in Bangalore.. Can i take an hour to complete the 500 meters though..?

. Just treat me to a good cup of coffee while you two take your minutes and hours...
