    • Beautiful stuff OF and Sunny! Got some questions:

      1) What kind of fuel used?
      2) Any pinging?
      3) How was the R1 vis a vis heating/cooling at the higher altitudes?

Extrapremium without Octane boosters. Pinging is an issue in low rpm - high gear operation. My experience: keep engine spinning above 3.5k rpm - no issues. Tiny clicking just off idle but no abnormal rise in temperature anywhere across the rpm band. We were not pushing the bikes anyway so don't know about anything above say 7-8 k rpms.

Heat was as it is anywhere. Were climbing up for Hatu in either 1st or 2nd. Quite slow. Coolant temp never went beyond 105 degC.

The altitude does sap some power and surprisingly, despite the huge surplus there is of it, we still could feel the drop. Moral of the story: Power corrupts

Jama AAr One ne chitt kar ditta kake. Flattened flat by the 180 ponies.

And as for the feeling of being with us...well, the faces can be different but in spirit, it would be very very difficult to differentiate one true rider from another. Be with us and so will we be....

All men dream, but not equally. Those that dream at night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act upon their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible. - T. • Some breath taking pictures there Sunny. And its shocking really to see the R1s tackling those kind of roads with those soft compound tyres! How did the tyres take the beating? I am sure they would need a change in no time..

These machines are seeing the 'real' India, I suppose; these were never meant to be ridden at such heights and on specially such terrains but xBhpians, I guess, are xBhpians after all!

Kudos to the three riders, who did this lovely journey on some of the most exclusive machines to grace the land of lamas!
                                :)
