- If you are more into touring, then the flip up is undoubtedly one of the best tools for the job. Putting/removing eyeglasses or sunglasses, Fuel stops, drinking water, asking for directions, photography or just stopping at the signal on a hot & humid day is all easier with the flip up.
- Lastly a few years back a friend of mine took a fall and totalled his bike. It all happened in the middle of a mountain region and when the mud & dust settled and I went running towards him, his DL650 was resting on his head with the helmet ofcourse. We pulled him out and his riding gear had saved him. Here is the pic of his helmet (not posting the bike pic as it will frighten you
). BTW, it was a AGV flip-up helmet.
At the end, buy what makes you comfortable. If you like the full face & feel more confident with it, then go for it.
I have browsed two shops in Bahrain but no sign of Nolan helmets till now. AGV flip-up is coming for 92 BHD, HJC and Veemar start at 100 BHD for the full-face, and Arai, I daren't inquire.
If you have any idea on shops, please do let know so that I can look around. Also, can you please specify the models for the three lids you have and if they were purchased in KSA itself or elsewhere? I am kinda liking the Nolan ones I see on the web.Comment

The models I have are HJC FG3K open face, which I think is now discontinued. Thats 12 years old and its from my Harley days
. However, I dont recommend open face helmets, but if anybody likes them I suggest to go for the one that has a movable visor shield covering your face otherwise tiny stones & bugs hit you like a sharp bullet in your face when travelling at 100kph & above. Happened to me more than once.
The Arai Quantum F full face. Thats about 8-9 years old & worth every penny I paid. I believe Arai upgraded the Quantum F subsequently to Quantum-2 or something like that.
The Nolan N102 flip-up. Thats about 3-4 years old.
Getting the correct size for your head is very important while buying a helmet. I measured the circumference of my head & ordered online and the gamble paid off. Have a look at this video clip & then refer to the helmet sizing chart of different brands.

I bought all my helmets from Motorcycle Helmets at The Helmet Shop. So you have to add another $50 for shipping by USPS- US Postal Service (not UPS) and it takes about 7-10 days to reach me here in Saudi. RECENTLY, another rider here referred to the website RIDERS DISCOUNT: Motorcycle Accessories, Motorcycle Helmets & Gear and they have a flat rate of $25 for all international shipping. Therefore if you refer to the sizing chart and order helmet, jacket, gloves, boots, pants etc, you will pay $25 only for shipping all of them together. Have a look. The Nolan N102 has been replaced by N103, and its a big game at 300$, so I am looking out for a AGV flipup. And I totally agree with the part about touring with full-face lids; I had to squeeze my glasses (when I used to wear them) inside my Daijya and it almost always ended up with a sore ear towards the end of the day.Comment

I got an invitation to register, but I cant make it during that time. The Jeddah Bikers Group is planning a large contingent and they are working on securing permission to ride over the causeway bridge into Bahrain. I am sure the Harley Groups from Jeddah, Riyadh & Dammam may also be there.

Adil bhai, I will be starting on motorcycle license training starting tommorrow and should get the DL in a couple of days. The last few days is really killing me. Once the thing comes in hand, will cross the road, tank her up, fill those tyres and will head out to Muharraq island.
