Then why does the news say...
Where its only clear rival, Kawasaki's Ninja 250, features an age-old engine, the Suzuki uses a completely new parallel twin motor, using bang up-to-date technology and opening the door for the firm to build further models around the same power plant

Well... never been a fan of BKing's styling, but if the BKing 250 comes with a new technology and competitive price... well India could be a great market for the bike.

For the Ninja 250 having an age old engine... well for the year 2008, 70% of the engine was changed from the previous one. For the west that not be a huge tech change, but for us... just think about it... our desi 220cc mill makes a max bang of 21bhp... add 30 more cc...take it to 250 and the technology of Ninja makes a max bang of 33bhp. So for an increase of just 30cc you are gaining 12bhp, which is more than what some of the desi 125cc mill produce. That's the technology Ninja 250 brings first hand

Yes it was posted on MCN, a fact which was mentioned in the original post as the source, something which you probabaly chose to miss.

What this means is that the Bking 250 could well be into final stages or nearing it.

This might be easier to digest if you consider that Yamaha has already come out with their baby Mt03, which is equivalent to the BKing in their lineup:

You can see the MT 03 in action too in their official promo :

            YouTube - 2006 Yamaha MT-03

Also, as far as the N250 is concerned, it still has the 'age' old engine which powered the earlier ever since it was first launched in 1986. It is indeed an old machine (but very effective with a new makeover)

            In fact from Wiki:

The motorcycle has undergone few changes throughout its quarter-century lifetime, having received only two substantial redesigns.

However, the Bking 250, if it happens, will mean that since its been developed in the last few years will be technologically more advanced the indeed old N250.

didn't miss that... you didn't post a link... so i googled it.
was just pointing out the date... that it was posted more than a year ago.

true... that's definitely the upside of the article being over a year old.

This is what MCN said about the ninja 250R when they reviewed it.
              they're definitely contradicting themselves here.
A major overhaul of the old, forgotten about ZZ-R/GPX 250 engine has bought Kawasaki Ninja 250R bang up date

i'm sure i'd get quite a few 'responses' if i called the Ninja 250R's engine 'age old' in the Kawasaki Ninja 250R Ownership Thread.

the engines are basically the same since it was invented. the piston has to move inside the cylinder. only the icing on top of the cake has changed over the years. ceramics , composites , titanium , on the piston cylinder walls etc. then how fuel is fed, improved carbs, fuel injection, etc. only the combinations of these has changed.

A very good example is the yamaha R15 engine construction.

as long as you get the output you want it's okay. most of you may not refuse a bike cause its 50 cc and give's 40 BHP out put with 74 kms to a litre to boot.

the only thing going for the ninja is that its a proven engine over the years in the real world usage not in the lab and for the euro and indian version has fuel injection as icing on the cake. And to top it all its the best ever entry level 250 CC in the world till date. for me its more than enough reason to give thumbs up for ninja.

                      HONDA(CBR250) VS SUZUKI(BKING) VS YAMAHA(FAZER250-it was a rumour) VS TVS(APACHE 250,bt desi) VS BAJAJ(ITS CAN NYTIM COM WITH A P250-300) ETC

ANY ONE COMPANY FROM THE ABOVE WHICH COMES FIRST WITH ITS MOTORCYCLE WITH GOOD LOOKS AND 30+ BHP WILL SURELY HAVE GOOD SALES

                      But on tvs bit doubt

& regarding Bking, Let the Suzuki improves their service & increase SASS first.

The increase in performance is directly proportional to the size of the hole in your pocket :D

By what I read about cbr250 in one of this month's magazines, its kinda miles ahead of its competition, and if the price range that they mentioned (around 1.5 lakh) is correct, then future of other same segment 250cc bikes look grim.
May the torque be with you..
