If you just need sound I would suggest go to a good mechanic and get him to take out the baffles out from the stock exhaust, why waste money. It will sound good I gurantee you.
Get some nice kawasaki Joe Rocket gear, its cheap and good. Get a decent lid for gods sake. I would strongly suggest instead of gaining bookish knowledge you go out ride and gain experence, I would also strongly reccomending getting in touch with local groups and get some hands on knowledge there. Again dont waste money on a exhaust, in todays world its nothing but mere bling.
thanx on that tip about the baffles but then arent the baffles there for a reason!!!!!!
dosent taking them out affect the back pressure etc
and now when u mention rippin does that mean before or after the runin
and please SOMEBODY TELL ME ABOUT THE RUN IN the kawa guys here are saying rip since the start????

I said the same thing, you can rip it from the start (i.e, 0 kms) and nothing will happen at all. So just enjoy your bike and stop worrying about RUNNING IN.
Oh most of the new bikes use a butterfly valve kind of a thing to generate backpressure. (Its called EX-UP in the R1) and in the 10R it is present before the exhaust. So even if you dont have a exhaust on the necessary back pressure at lower revs will always be there. It opens up at higher revs. (I've ran the old 10R without the exhaust and it sounded mad)
For a much greater understanding and peace of mind you can take a look at this picture.
Its completely safe to remove the baffles, and as you can see in the photos there are a lot of them, so you can remove 1 pair at a time and check out if you like the sound or not.Locking the front and flipping is the worst experience you could err experience.

The pic is out there, I had leeched it from somewhere else maybe thats why it isnt showing up. Here it is again, I uploaded it to my photobucket.

See I dont know about the whole world, I am sure you would want to be careful about your new bike and all. All I am telling you is it doesn matter there is nothing you can do to damage the engine no matter how hard you are going to rip her. I could have just told you to follow the run in. But IMHO it bullcrap all the modern bikes are so infallable there is nothing you can do to harm it. I infact stand by the 10R as one of a really well built bikes. In all the litre bikes I've ridden this was the bike which had the least heating problems. All in all its your call but I wont delebrately tell you to harm your bike either
.
I think you can get the baffles back in if you want them to, but including me and none of my friends have did it after removing them because the sound was so good. The base and the shillness of the thing is so amazing, you have to try it out man.
I also would advice you to read this thread :
***ZX-10R Owners please read...ESPECIALLY New Owners!!*** - Kawasaki ZX-10R.net
And do check out and talk to the people on that forum. Amazing guys there.Locking the front and flipping is the worst experience you could err experience.

@manav
thanx for uploading the pic. thats a great article
1- what does bog down mean
2- the tappet sound is what i experianced too i ws wondering what that grrrgrrr grr sound was but then looks like its normal
3- changing the complete seems to be a huge cost. im gonna leave it at the most get a slip on later on
thanx for all ur help dude. ill rip her when i get the chance but drive carefully for a couple of hundred kms to get to know her
i am planning on a 900-950 km trip within a few days . is this recommended before the first service and what oils should i use cause they told me to bring my own oil for all servicings!!!!!
4- definitly not tryin to wheelie for a looong time to come
5- what is the 1/5th throttle conversion!!!!!
6- at the time of this article he mentions the brakes being no upto the mark but my little rides on the bike have given me enuff confidence on the braking.
7- tank slappers are real scary he also mentions getting a damper i guess the dampers werent a factory fit before. but now its a std i guess . so a damper completly eliminates the chance of a slapper????

@06r1
speeds in saudi are much more than in india and much more attainable. 80-100 is nothing for a bike here. but even then i shall try to restrict myself to these figures to learn the bike. the stock mufflers are boring they need to go.
@busa
hey dude looks like happy times have started rolling enjoy ur dtay in mumbai and post lots of pics of ur ride with ur sbk buddies i bought myself a KBC helmet even before i bought the bike man.

Bogging down means sudden loss of power when infact you are trying to accelerate, some people also refer to this as flat-spot in the power curve.
That is a typical characteristic of the 10R and I absolutely love it, it sounds like its pissed off. GRR GRR GRR.
Just remove the baffle man, its more then enough. Or get a cool looking slip-on. It doesnt matter. But if you are spending cash I would say rather get a better lid and gear. You can treat the bike later when you have spare cash. Trust me nothing will ever be a better investment then more good gear on a bike.
Do whatever you want, you dont have to be worried about stupid running in, thats for the engines of the past man.
I would highly reccomend you to take the bike for the ride, rip her well. And change the oil immidately. That is the best thing you can do. And after that your bike will be totally free from any run in tension. Get the reccomended oil for the Bike ask your dealer, google it. Or all else fails ask me and ill look it up for you.
Trust me you dont have to try and wheelie a 10R when it opens up, all hell breaks loose. Just for once when you feel the front getting light, let your natural instinct go and dont leave the throttle hold it for a second longer. You know what I am talking about
1/5th throttle conversion is making the throttle "Quicker" so you get more throttle with lesser wrist moment. Got it?
I feel to the front brakes on my 05 were kinda squishy, but they were great. I have not ridden the 08 so cannot comment. The brakes are perfect its the feeling of the lever that changes.
Yes he is talking about the 04-05 all models from 06 onwards had dampers as standard. The 10R is often reffered to as slapper happy beause of high tendency to give slappers. I never had one on mine though.Locking the front and flipping is the worst experience you could err experience.

Congrats on getting the bike and finally the plates!
Any plans of riding down to Jeddah? I think a ride from jeddah to taif would be really nice with all the mountains, cool weather all round and the twisty roads. Its been quite a while since I've been there
