My view on this would be that the R125 could be a nice sport 125cc bike and with local manufacturing and clever pricing, would create a whole new niche market on its own. Who knows? Stranger things have been known to happen.. such as a 1L OTR 150cc bike outselling higher capacity bikes.

Oh... Superbikes mod into action... Runaway...

An Indian R125 is maybe possible! Priced around 80,000 it may succeed ...

But, the title says "COME to India??" ... Come from where? Europe Version won't succeed in selling here ....

Please change title to "Is an 'Indian R125' welcomed by us?"

Shheesh! I was thinking of Indian-ised R4 & R6, while people still dream R125 ?? Guys, maybe we need to talk about more cc's ...

we have R-1-5 why we need R-1-2-5 ??
        Instead we need a R-2-5-0

Finally, a guy who's speaking my language ... R125 may be a substitute for 150-180cc Indian Bikes... Still, not for me!

          +10 ...

Let's await the FZ 250 & Gladiator 165 ... don't ask me the source, ok? he is 50% sure of this... that's all!

I don't know about R125 but I think a bigger Gladiator makes better sense here in India.Think about it. The FZ16 is the torque monster, the R15 is a race track killer so the Gladiator 150(or 165) can sit between these two and complete the range.
Because the existing Gladiator is a very good touring bike. It's light, comfortable, engine's smooth,no vibrations.
Yamaha should give it a thought. The Fz16 for the city,R15 for the track and the Gladiator for everything combined.
And it would be an icing on the cake if it looks like the one that was showcased in the auto expo 2006.

I also heard of Gladiator 165 & FZ 250 expected in India, from my Yamaha Dealer, who is a friend of mine...

But then again, this is India, so let's not speculate it so strongly ... Although, Bike India did show us the Gladiator 165, maybe which is sold in another country. It reaches a genuine 120 kmph, with 16 bhp laid down with 6 Speed Gearbox ...

My point is that after Low end Torque oriented FZ16, the Gladiator 165 might fit the gap perfectly! Now, only if they do it ...

They don't need to fill the portfolio gap with a 165/250

They need a bread and butter variant - like BAL has realized with the ascendancy of the Stunner and the demise of the Discover at their own hands.

Well, rightly said. But, I think Alba and G5 are doing their jobs fine as Bread & butter bikes ...

I mean, there are not much improvements one can make in 100cc as everything adds to cost. They will still be Carbueretted Air cooled 2 Vlave after all, right?

So, what can one expect a new Yamaha 106 to do? not much I feel ...

After getting information from some blog and Tajshree Yamaha , Nagpur about release of R125 and FZ250. I emailed Sanjay Tripathy, yamaha sales and marketing manager and got the answer a big no and he told me to don't look after unofficial news. But confirmed the new colors of R15. And some yammie DNA based bikes later but no plans now.

I hope the 125 comes here. The R15 is so wannabe IMO.

If anything, all the twin shocked, double down tubed "Sports tourers" and "streetfighters" are the wannabes in the market. The R15 has the right ingredients, albeit in a scaled down package.

Oh, and the R125 ain't coming. I can guarantee that.
