Well you are right, and that's why you need to know this fact. 2008 CB was designed in an Italian studio for Honda. 2010 version I'm using is just a modest update with just a few detail changes.Originally posted by burninrubbr View PostBeen obsessed with momentum ever since i was born, but 0 - 200kmph took 30yrs! Today was a life changing experience, my first real ride with super-bikes. Unbelievable, scary, learning and unforgettable experience. I mean these things are fast, its a given, you don't have to learn that. Indian roads are ridiculous, traffic is random and people jay walk crisscross and behave thoughtlessly, all that is a given, you don't have to learn that. What you do learn is having both these equations and putting them to a mix.
I will assure you FEAR is a constant existence and awareness is awake without blinking of an eye or catching a breath. Risk is a constant, the ability of the bikes is beyond belief, yes these bikes can break to a halt before your thoughts could respond. But you should be an able driver and the alert level from driving an Indian 250cc or a car to a liter class bike is raised a 1000 fold! Be warned, you have to live at a different level to drive these bikes, there are no room for mistakes and no such thing as a relaxed moment. If you wanna relax park the bike on the side of the road and get off! Period.
I had an amazing long drive with some friends and their super-bikes, I have been cleared wide off from the myth liter class engines are similar. A cruiser, like harley and the likes, liter class, is for cruising and not sporty, speed shifting, high triple digits, naked's CB etc are naked's they are DE-TUNED power and torque shifted to mid-range even FZ1 and speed triple are just nakeds and have nothing to do with super sport versions to the likes of R1 or CBR1000R and the likes. Trust me each of these stand by a world of difference.
Driving a fully faired super sport like R1 or CBR1000R after driving a naked which you felt is so powerful, obliterates you illusion. I had no reason to shift beyond 4th gear or any freaking logic to twist my wrist for speed as I do on CB1000R. Pushing a super sport takes ridiculously good roads and long visibility with very mild traffic, and you have to be OUT OF YOUR FREAKING MIND! The wind blast factor came up to me and haunted me after riding a super sport. You feel like you are just lying down on something that is moving at an incredibly, what speed? hell you'd have to find that looking at the speedo.
But a naked a CB1000R has a great rush riding, you feel the sensation of speed, which you are completely protected on a super sport. CB1000R has great handling I do not mean on track, this is for the road and traffic, you don't feel the heat as you do on super sport and the suspension handles bumps much more comfortably than a super sport. A super sport is just what it is, a super fast, super capable track carving tool it is incredible and has no match elsewhere. Even long distances I felt at ease on a super sport with all the wind protection, even at high speeds. A naked is part of the environment, you feel the wind you feel the rush, you feel the gravity of every situation you are aware like a monk who is not just drinking but is breathing caffeine for a living!
I enjoy my ride, but there are differences, and they do make a difference! Choose wisely when you buy. There are huge limitations on a naked, both in comfort and in speeds. It is NOT a cruiser.Been obsessed with momentum ever since i was born, but 0 - 200kmph took 30yrs! This will do for now!

Thanks bro, well anything that is not officially launched by the company is hard to import legally, it is a real pain at the customs and formalities etc., So most or 99% of 600's including R6 and the likes are grey. Greys are available in the 2nd hand market for varied price depending on the condition of the bike and the model, suppose you know all that. The bike I've ridden was a friends who doesn't own it anymore, he had bought it for about 5lakhs, which was about 2 years old. The prices have gone down lately even an R1 now just costs about 6.5lakhs used (grey).Originally posted by beastlover View Post@blackside.. first of all congrts on your new ride. although i am quite late for it but better late than never..

It is never recommended to buy a grey market bike which has no secure papers, your bike can be taken away any moment the authorities get their hands on them. Especially in metros like Bangalore, Chennai etc., So If you wanna wait for a proper CBR 600R wait for it, it might show up sometime in a year or two through the manufacturer. Already Kawasaki has launched its 650 in India as we all know. Riding something with paper feels way too good and knowing it is insured feel secure. Cheers

@ Blackside, Congos again for the In-line 4. Just a quick question, with regards to this,

The Yellow R1 in the pic, have been spotted by me couple of times in Trichy road mostly on sundays with the same Yellow Lid. Does that bike belong to Coimbatore or does it come to get serviced here by kannan who is in Thadagam road??? I've spotted a similar looking R1 in kannan's workshop with the same fender eliminator kit a zillion times mostly accompanied by a GSXR 1000 K10 edition.Whenever there is a Rainbow in the sky, I know it's u mastering the art of Cornering. U will always be remembered brother, R.I.P Arun.
