To Traction or not to Traction

Well at one side I also do agree with the fact that it's a very nicely shot and a very thoughtfull video... but at the same time I do not agree with the genome of the thought... the basic fact of the thought that.. a motorcycle should not be restricted with electronics and the only limiting factor for the motorcycle is the rider. It's true that the weakest link on a motorcycle is the nut that connects the saddle with the handle bar, but again, it needed the likes of Simon Crafer to do such a power slide on a liter class monster.

At the end of it, most Sports and Super Sports street legal motorcycles would spend 99% of their life time on public roads and there you won't expect the rider to a power slide on a tarmac which is filled with oil spills, gravel and water. I bet even Valentino Rossi, Cassey Stoner or Crafer for that matter won't do it. Having electronics like ABS and Traction control are for street usage and not for track and therefore I personally do not buy Suzuki's logic of not going for Traction Control for the 2012 GSX-R 1000.

Beautiful full-lock slide. The electronics make the street versions Idiot proof.
and for some of us Idiots, we really need it.

When it comes to sliding them rears; Mamola, McCoy and Stoner are in the 'Can't touch me' zone. I haven't seen anyone do it like McCoy though. Entering the corners till the bike just reaches short of a high side.

Also, Stoner still does it beautifully on the RC213V. I am afraid we will be seeing a little of those this year though with the new Bridgestones.

Last weekend race at Jerez also saw lots of saves in the Moto3 category (bad weather). Especially ones by Maverick Vinales and Romano Fenati.

I would also recommend looking at 'The Mountain' in Cadwell Park! (British SuperBikes)

I think csajal said it right, most of these bikes will be ridden on roads and not the track. I think its not bad to have all the electronic package but all these gizmos will unfortunately not make us better riders nor will we develop our skills but as most bikes have the option to turn it all off I guess if we really want to we can improve our skills in a safe environment. Man I wish I could do that on any bike.

Not sure you guys have seen this

Yes I saw the Moto last weekend.......when the track started drying up,it became more challenging with wet and dry areas of track..esp., at corners..

Here is Lorenzo doing an ELBOW DRAG..
