  • [Photo Feature]: My 1996 Honda CBR 600 F3

    Hi Guys,

My first thread/comment ever on xbhp.com. Have been an active silent spectator for years now. But thought now its time to put up something. Have been on the prowl for a good 600cc bike for over 2 years now. All failed attempts either due to papers/condition/price etc etc.

With tremendous help from Manson & Bladerunner I finally have a sweet I4.

Manson helped me finally narrow in on the bike and Bladerunner helped me get it back in sweet shape. These are the nicest guys to know if you ever need any SBK help.

I'm well aware that this aint no Busa or R1!!! But this sure as hell makes me feel like the king of the world. Looking forward to some good rides post the monsoon.

    Cheers.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Prefer a 600 over a 1ltr anyday.. she has ample amount of power and mid range to let you enjoy riding her on the streets of Mumbai. Although i am quite surprised you managing to find one with clean papers . I presume the previous owner was a parsi.. looking at the rear fender.. she is a beauty!

Anyways would wish you all the best and please do share your riding and ownership experience with us.

          Cheers,

congrats, lovely bike you got yourself there.

looking at the pics i had a question. Is the windscreen opaque? or is it just a see through tint?

And oh yeah, if any uninformed folk walks up to you and asks if its a modified pulsar/zma, a dab of I4 sound will do the trick . Saw it happen to a gpz900r.

enjoy the bike and keep us posted.

One of my all time favourite 600's. Very rider friendly and a good all rounder. Enjoy the bike and ride safe!

Thank you all for the warm welcome and wishes!

The bike is just a beauty to ride! And loud as SIN!!

I got the bike with a almost new battery, pirelli diablo tyres and a paint coat.Post the purchase i got it services from Johnny in Bandra who definitely is very very good and affordable

                  Got the below done
                  1. Adjustment of timing chain tensioner - Was causing a rattling noise in first gear
                  2. Oil change - Motul Fully synthetic - Bike is running 100 times better post the oil change. The bike wasnt starting at first attempt. Post the oil change it starts at first go even after a week
                  3. Motul chain clean and chain lube - made a big difference in smoothness
                  4. System G fuel additives each time i fill fuel
                  5. Glass polish - bike shines with a 18 month warranty
                  6. Also got myself Rjays jacket and gloves

Now about the ride, its very easy to ride in mumbai. In traffic very easy to maneuver. I did encounter a few over heating issues in the start but post the services all good. Did have one bad experience though - bike over heated in traffic and the coolant started over flowing etc. A quick call to Bladerunner helped me sort the issue.

On the highway is where I really felt the power - touched 200 on the bandra highway between signals. Although till 8k rpm shes a beauty post that i suddenly feel amazing bursts of power and handling a bit difficult then.

Kamikaze - the windscreen has a black sticker quotating. Get asked if its a 600 or 1000. Never been asked if its a modified bike. The kwacker is naked and probably faces those questions.

shv18 - Yes, the previous owner was Parsi. I plan on keeping the god stickers on

Bladerunner - Thanks again for all the help.

Rakshit - Thanks man. The seat posture and riding is very comfortable. Honda's F series are more all rounders as compared to the RR's. Although it did take time for me to get used to the riding posture - especially my wrists.

Kachhing - No worries man.the f4i is a real beauty and also one of my favourites. Especially the Red-Black colour combination.

Its a nice balanced one.... you will love it for long before you look for upgrade.
