Pheww!! Been almost 2yrs since I posted on the forum. Only a thread like this could be something that would get me out in the open again.

Read from page 1 to 35 and I am so glad to have done that. Must thank Sachin for sharing his experiences and rides the way he did, truly an amazing ride throughout the pages.

I have been looking forward to getting the N650 since the time it came to India but haven't been able to do so yet. Started reading the thread couple of days back and its got me all excited and motivated again

Its even more satisfying to read through all of the posts and realise that the bike basically has no negatives what so ever and a perfect VFM bike, as I expected it to be. Sure, one can say that the brakes are not at par, the headlight and the exhaust note not great either, but all-in-all a big thumbs up.
Was good to read that brake liner+pad change solved the brake issue and change of headlamp did the trick for night rides. And these are not exactly expensive upgrades so another positive.

Thanks again for sharing all the info and ride details that you been constantly since the delivery and leaving us with just the initial impression.

Thank you very much. Appreciate your kind words and yes, it has been a wonderful ownership experience so far. Although I have not exploited Midori to extreme bad roads yet, but all in all I am very happy with my purchase.

            • Mumbai - Bangalore - Mumbai

              Mumbai - Bangalore - Mumbai
              Date: 13 - 15 Jun'14
              Distance Covered: 2100 kms covered

This ride was just for the love of roads. No sight seeing planned, no touristy locations to be explored. Only one thing in mind that is Ride, Eat, Sleep...Repeat! One of my close friend who rides a Honda CB1000 had come back from his 6 months stint in sea and was urging to ride long distance. One of his cousin brother stays in Bangalore and we decided to ride till Bangalore, stay at his bungalow, spend some time and return.

Plan was to meet at sharp 5:30 am so that we can make it to Bangalore by 7:30 pm to avoid any sort of night riding in monsoon. 3 out of 4 of us made it on time but my friend riding CB1000 whose cousin's house we had planned to stay did not arrive. Multiple phone calls but still no luck. Called his GF to find his whereabouts and she said he might be sleeping. 3 of us were like WTF! now what to do? We decided we ride to his place and wake up the bugger and start the ride. Here, I put my Scala G9 bluetooth communication to full use. After I reached at the location where my friend stays, I called up her GF again and she guided me exactly where his building was while I was riding

Pressed the bell multiple times to wake him up and his friend opens the door in deep sleep. I went inside and said to my friend, Come On Lets Go! Wake up it's time to ride The expression I got back when he saw me in his room was as if he was late to go to a write his board exams :P I told him to get ready in 20 minutes and meet us down.

Finally the ride started at 7:30 am and we ended up reaching Bangalore by around 10 pm. 14.5 hours ride! Not bad Eh.

Next day was spent in and around Bangalore. A nice lunch treat by my friend's cousin for us and we started the return ride on the next day. No dramas in the return ride and we returned home safely. We took too many leisure breaks in return journey and too much time pass during the ride. We ended up reaching home around 12AM which was close to 18 hours on road :P

All the pictures of the ride below. Until next time, Ride Safe! Ride Hard!

This ride was in June and the roads conditions were decent. The fun of this ride starts after you cross Satara towards Bangalore

                      Hey guys,

Sorry to hijack the thread. One of my friends is planning to buy a used Ninja 650R (2011 MY) done 4300 kms. Can you please let me know what all we need to look out for on the bike and also a reasonable price for the same? It'll be a great help.

                      Thanks!

Bro. Am planing on getting a ninja 650 myself. One thing I have to ask. I ride a duke 390. The engine overheats like hell on my bike. Is there any similar issue with the ninja 650?

First question which I will have if I where to purchase a 2011 motorcycle is why has it run so less? I mean 3 years and just 4000 kms. Second, considering Ninja's service interval is first at 1K kms and then after every 6K kms interval I suppose this bike might have only been serviced once or has the owner been proactive to service it once it every 6 months at least or has the bike just rotten in some garage for extended period of time without play- not soo good for the engine in the long run and same for other parts of the bike.

Regarding price, the bike used to cost 5.12L OTR in mumbai and for a 3 years old bike if you get the bike at 3.12 - 3.3L it's a good deal if the bike is kept in mint condition.

Below is documentation part which you might want to look into.

                          Bike Papers: (All originals)
                          1) Tax Invoice Bill (Showroom Bill)
                          2) RC Card
                          3) PUC
                          4) Insurance
                          5) Road Tax Receipt

                          Transfer of ownership on sale:
                          1) Form 29 (2 seller's sign)
                          2) Form 30 (with signature of seller & purchaser & chassis print affixed on it)
                          3) NOC (if vehicle is purchased from other RTO)
                          4) NOC from financier if any.

                          Other Documents Needed:
                          1) Sales Letter cum Receipt on stamp paper for the deal
                          2) Delivery Notes (2 copies): stating that the vehicle & related responsibilities are of the new owner (XYZ) from now onwards. (Seller can keep one copy and one copy for buyer for reference)

                          Add on Queries: (Please Confirm)
                          1) Is the bike on loan? If yes, has the loan cleared. Please confirm.
                          2) If the bike was on loan and loan is cleared, I will need FORM 35 signed along with NOC letter from the bank stating the loan is clear.

In city bumper to bumper traffic yes it will heat up but otherwise it's manageable. You will not have Tandoori legs unless you ride in really dreadful places which are traffic prone. In such cases I wont blame the bike for heating up afterall N650 is twin cylinder 650cc bike

My friend did manage to find one and I had similar questions as you had regarding the bike. However, the deal has fallen through and doesnt look like he'll be proceeding with it. Thanks for your pointers, I'll surely keep them in mind when I get into the market!
