Come 2016 i have finally booked a ER6N, would be getting it by jun 18. can you share some tips for riding safely and maintaining during rains, currently i am riding a 2011 r15.

Also like you i like to tour and with pillion r15 was too painful.

    thank you
Congratulations on the ER6N. Fantastic Bike. I rode it today for some distance in city and loved it's practicality for city riding. The short handle bar makes a huge difference to hustle around town and lack of bulk caused by fairing did make things more comfortable. No heating issue too. So great buy!

There is a 25K discount on the ER6N which makes buying it an even sweeter deal.

I'm not an expert so I'll to stick my experience with the N650 for your reference. About riding safely, since you are upgrading from a R15, just be cautious while making those U-turns as this bike is considerably heavy. I had a couple of moments in my initial experience when I did n't realise the affect the heavy weight can add while taking U turns.
The stock brakes are very spongy and slow-progressive so start braking early to make it halt where you want it to, it does n't have sharp bite like you would expect.

For the rains, the bike's stock tires (Dunlop) are outright the most difficult tires to manage in wet on this bike. The Michelin's and Pirelli's are far better so be careful in wet conditions with the stock tires. On straight road, the grip levels are moderate and manageable its the turns which make things tricky.

P.S. I was in KTM Andheri today for bike service and there was a couple who came to check out the bike. Was it you? There was another chap too who was enquiring about booking ER6N.

Which brings me to the next topic - My 12th Service Bill @ 72K kms

    Chain Lube - 172.5
    Chain Clean - 172.5
    Paid Servicing - Rs.1437.5
    Air Filter - Rs.1854
    Oil Filter - Rs.634
    Motul 10w40 300V - 2300

    *Total Service Cost - Rs.6571*

    Few noticeable differences are:
Air filter used to be Rs.1419 now it's Rs.1854
Oil filter used to be Rs.450 now it's Rs.634

Prices of spare parts are rising slowly and I think next time onwards I will carry my own chain clean, lube and purchase oil from outside because these are the only things where I can cut the costs back.

First off congratulations shail on the brilliant purchase.
Best time to get the ER6N !
Did you consider the Versys too ?

Anyways just out of curiosity i would like to know that can you make this sports tourer more track friendly ?
And also the 2016 avatar looks better to me. So can we slap on these new fairing kit to the older models ?
Finally, is there any aftermarket exhaust mod that can transform this parallel twin to sound like the benelli 600i !?

        Thanks.
        cheers.

@dnewguy i did not consider the versys since it was out of my budget, i saw that bike at kanjurmarg showroom it is huge and i really loved it.
@sachin i always carried my motul to service center, did not make sense for me to pay 100 rs for lubing when you get a can for around 500rs.

i am going for below accessories as of now.

          - frame sliders maybe R&G or some other brand not decided yet
          - redline plus radiator guard
          - front fender extender, i can see one on redline plus should i got for ?

          Thanks

Hi Sachin, how often do you change engine oil? I have heard people saying 300v doesn't last more than 3000-4000 Kms.
I have been planning to change Engine oil on my R3 and kind of confused between 7100v and 300v.

Congrats on your booking, and since you are going to the ER6N, and I believe there is a discount of 25k on it if I am not wrong, if so, is it only confined to Mumbai buyers or is it available throughout India and also did you happen to know till when will it (discount) be available as I am also contemplating on buying the ER6n very soon, but don't know whether the discount is available here in Bangalore too!

I change oil usually once in 6K but last oil change got delayed so ended up using it for 8K kms. The oil was still in decent condition. I have used 7100 once but I prefer 300V.

I actually visited the Kawasaki showroom here in Bangalore to inquire about the discount and they don't even have a clue about what it is, I don't know whether they are that ignorant or is it just confined to Mumbai buyers. The showroom person told that he would check with Kawasaki and would get back to me and even told some one took delivery of the ER6n just yesterday itself, not sure whether he is just making it up or not.

                        Hi

Here in delhi the showroom personnel told me a discount for 25K.
Didn't comment for how long the offer would last.
                        Hurry...

                        Cheers.

I got it confirmed now with other KTM showrooms here in Bangalore that the offer is available here too and one of them informed that it could be either misinformed or a new representative who must have attended me yesterday, but whatever it is that's pure ignorance on the showroom's part to not know of such a development and also whoever it was, at least they could have contacted someone in their higher-ups to at least confirm it when I was there...anyway problem solved, hopefully going for it soon!!

P.S. @Sachinnair.. sorry for hijacking your thread as its completely OT..
