Well, I have a few scratches on my bike because of the bungee cords rubbing with the paint while I try to strap it tight. Since I use it daily, I really don't have the patience to use a cloth or be extremely cautious while strapping it. It's okay for me to have a few battle scars on my bike if you ask me.

In case you want to ensure it's scratch free, you will have to do the hard work of using a cloth or tape which will prevent direct impact to paint.

A post which was due from quite sometime. Last time I did a proper ride on Midori was back in Nov to Goa post which it developed a fuel pump problem. The bike was not revving past 6K rpm and was giving jerks. I was experiencing power loss on wide open throttle and knew something was wrong. I took it to service centre and after iliminating all the issues, it was evident that fuel pump needed replacement. The fuel pump costs a whooping 18K INR and after trying all jugaad's in the past 6 weeks I decided to shell out the money and go for it.

Today got my bike back and with the new fuel pump, the problem is rectified and planning a few rides in coming weeks. I will post pictures and ride update once done. The bike is due for its 13th service and I will be doing that next weekend. Tires have done close to 20K kms and I might stretch it for another 2-3K kms before going in for a change.

Got my 5th year insurance renewed a week back for 9.1K from Bajaj Allianz. Insurance is zero dep and I got it from KTM Saki Naka dealer.

I am keen on changing the looks of the bike a bit, may be some custom paint or wrap. I don't know, but I don't want to spend much. Let's see what I can do in minimal budget.

Lol. My ZMR will complete 7 years in March and I dont have a fuel pump issue yet on that bike. On the other hand, Ninja got this issue in 4 years. If anyone knows how to prevent fuel pump failures, would love to hear them.

My bike always gets refueled before it hits reserve, so I dont know if bad fuel could also lead to fuel pump failure or could it be due to high mileage clocked on bike.

Could be adulterated fuel. Few people suggest to use FI cleaning additives like System-G or STP. However I don't have first hand experience with it.

13th Service Update

Quite a few updates are pending from my side for the Green Affair Thread. So let me go in chronological order. Recently did the 13th Service @78K kms completion. The service was done in KTM Sea Woods and perhaps this might have been the last service for Midori in a KTM service outlet as they have stopped stocking spare parts of Kawasaki bikes. During the service found a busted fork seal so that was changed during the service along with the other usual stuff. One of the pilot lamps fused, so got that changed.

Hi, I got my Er6n's 2nd service done recently and they changed the oil and oil filter too but the manual stated change required only at 3rd service as it is every alternate services, but they insisted upon changing stating that its not suitable for our road conditions given the kind of dust and all and more suited to Western countries, is it okay to go ahead with or should I rethink?

My suggestion is would be to change oil and filter every service as good oil is the lifeline to ensuring a smooth and trouble free engine over the long term.

I change Oil and Oil filter in every service. So once in 6K kms the oil filter gets changed. They are right when they say our road conditions need oil filter replacement every service due to the dusty conditions and who wants to take a chance of not replacing it and something bigger going wrong in future. My suggestion would be to go ahead and change it.

Thanks for the reply, and also the mechanic requested to get the chain slack adjusted at every 1000 kms, is it necessary for every 1000 kms

Chain tightening is only required as and when there is some slack beyond the prescribed tightness. If your chain and sprockets are new, then the intervals between chain tightening is longer. On the other hand, as you put on more kilometres the interval will shorten due to the sprocket teeth getting worn out which you can make out as the teeth begin to curve around the tips. My suggestion is to change your sprocket to a good make like Renthal and also move to an X ring chain which will not only make issues like chain tightening intervals longer but also save you the hassle of frequent chain lubing.

Right now, no official dates have been communicated. KTM Dealerships have stopped selling Kawasaki motorcycles. In Mumbai at least, the showroom is not ready yet so we will have to wait and watch. I reckon whenever the showroom is officially launched, the new 2017 model line up shall be released.

I am getting a good deal for a 2016 model N650. Is it better to buy used or wait for the new version as it will have abs. Not sure as the deal is really sweet - 5 lakhs for 1300 kms done bike
