it would canibalize the sales of 650r don't you think??

of course from a rider's perspective it's good. but for bajaj (kawasaki) i would just cannibalize the sales of 650r. but i would love to see this in the indian market.

Its just a letter in the bike's name. Nothing much to it. Some consider it to represent Race/Racing, but that can't be accepted for all cases because not all the bikes that come with a R tag are/can be used efficiently on the tracks. Usually companies use the R tag to distinguish between the present models and older ones. But there are some proper acronyms like RR - Racer Replica. N - Naked, etc. But 'R' doesn't really have a proper definition. Also not to mention that the motorcycles can have different names in different countries.
P.S: The 300 doesn't have the R tag, its sold just as "Ninja 300".

Maybe if just the 400 is launched, that might happen. But if both 300 and 400 are launched, then it will be cannibalized itself by the 300.

I'm all for the N400R to be launched in India!

Price it right (4L) and you have a sweet product, solid Kawasaki engineering backed by Bajaj's extensive service network!

Hope they bring in the upgrades of the 2012 N650 onto the N400 as well, but retain the 145mm GC

bcoz there are people who have bought 650cc ninja by paying extra (huge) amount of money but both of them have same or bit different looks what is the use when both of them pass by the look alike
i had faced problems when i bought my Yamaha r1 people started asking me that if i had modified my Yamaha r15
its a slap on the face....
company should produce a new and different look bikes in different segments
                same in all the company's
hahahaahahah I know what you mean... Had a similar with the N250r and certain ppl though i had modified a pulsar or such.. On the the other hand ... perhaps this would make it 'Safer' and less of an attention grabber. Having the R1 and having someone mistake it for an R15 would make my blood boil for sure!!

We have to be practical. 400R is derived from 650R and hence the costs will be high:--> You're getting a Ninja 650R for what, 5.7 Lacs? So, will you want a 400R for 5.5 Lacs or so? Will you actually purchase it?
Heck, even its weight is around 200 kgs, around the same as 650R.

In other words, we will be getting a 400R in almost the same price as getting a 650R, whether its imported or made in India or anything.
And even if 650R production starts in India, I would want 650R to be made a 700R or 750R, but not the reverse of it. An informed & experienced guy would obviously prefer a 650R instead of 400R.

However, Ninja 300 is a good choice because its from the 250R platform, and hence won't cost so much as a 400R.
