See if there are scrap yards nearby. Would a Nano's engine do? What're you building?Originally posted by Abhishek Mosalikanti View PostI am from Hyderabad and Im looking for the same. Since you guys have been a part of this discussion, you might be know where I might possibly find a reliable 600cc engine and transmission. Thanks!
BTW, since you already posted here, I've removed the thread you'd created on the same topic. (I'd have merged it here anyways)Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Re: 600cc engine required
Thanks! Ill be using it for the same purpose. Nano engine is about 624cc and the limit for SAE supra is 610cc. So I am looking for a SBK engine under 610cc. CBR600R makes about 50bhp more than nano engine and 20Nm torque more than the same. So, we'd be using this for a race, we need a very high performance engine with the transmission box mated to it.Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostSee if there are scrap yards nearby. lot of engines for sale on EBAY international in 600cc class , engine you would buy in india will not come with all required electronics and you will end up importing over EBAY anyway.
why not import the complete unit , ready to fire!
Also if you do not have an electronics expert in your team , it would be wise to import / purchase older carburated motors. You're never lost if ya don't care where the road is headed

How do I get it to clear customs? I don't know anyone who could help me sneak it through customs.Originally posted by dustom_99 View Postyou dont need to Import within India!

Re: 600cc engine required
Every thing clears customs , expect the Banned articles ofcourse. Just the matter of paying up duty. Occasionally customs may send a letter to state the purpose of Import , if you are participating in a college competion like Supra / baja et al you have a valid purpose of Import as well , so dont be scared.Originally posted by Abhishek Mosalikanti View PostHow do I get it to clear customs? Customs people get no fun in Holding articles in there warehouse ,Get a letter written by ur HOD on college letter head / company letter head , to convince custom people.
You do not need to know anyone in customs or an agent for 1pc personal import , just pay up required duty(20-35%) when the damn thing lands!
used motors with transmission are available as low as 400$ . Ask the seller to make a Note on declaration form "for International College competition "or something like "For university research program" . you would get it pretty sure in decent time.
I have improted stuff like that many a times , never had a problem.
It would be Good if you give delievery address of New delhi , as every thing lands there , and you can save lot of paper work like form16( required for state to state transit within india) , sales tax NOC etc , Importers licence num for new delhi adresses.Last edited by dustom_99; 06-20-2014, 05:36 PM.You're never lost if ya don't care where the road is headed
