  • R6 or CBR600 or ZX-6r or Gixxer600??

well i have been planning a bike for a long time now.. have managed to save up enough and looking to acquire a 600cc.. i have short listed my choices and these are the options i have..
    - R6
    - CBR 600
    - ZX-6r
    - Gixxer 600

i was inclined towards the naked bikes specially FZ6 more in terms of practicality but im looking for a bike more for city rides, evening rides and weekend gateaways.. im not as much into touring.
i would NOT be using this bike for commuting.
my heart made me decide on a faired bike. i am aware of the cons of a faired bike namely d riding position could hurt the back and the wrists but i guess this pain is small enough compared to the excitment of riding a SBK.

i would like you people to help me with my decision to choose one of these bikes and also how should i go bout acquiring this bike in Pune. who should i approach to and how to go bout things regarding the imports of this bike..

would really appreciate if someone could guide me through the whole process..
waiting to hear from you guys.. need your help in acquiring my dream..!!

would you really listen to me or anyone here? i mean with all respect, I appreciate you sharing your dilmea with us but I wouldn't ride a bike I don't like and certainly not the one suggest by the person (like me) who has never ridden any one of them. Choosing a superbike is more than just reading reviews in magazines or word of mouth. All I mean to say if you really have decided to put in some cash in a big bike than go out and meet owners or SBK mechanics who ride them everyday and if possible take a test ride.
To be honest if I was you, I would choose a brand rather than looking the advantage of cc difference or handling because you wont be exploiting any of it until you are a track day savy. they all will take you to 120 mph at all most the same time and each one of them is heavy. my 2 pence

I would suggest for 2008/07 Honda CBR600RR. Best 600 of the lot IMO
im planning to buy a new one hence looking at what options/dealers available in and around pune to guide me through it.

well pulsater i respect your concern.. i have personally ridden a '05 R6 and a '07 cbr but not d ninja or the gixxer..
my personal choice with the options i have is the R6 n yeah d red/white colour but again that is in terms of looks.. havent ripped any of the bikes i mentioned to get the actual feel of it.

The R6 heats up just like the R1...CRAZY! Get the CBR. Its got a better seating position and makes better power below 8k rpm unlike the R6. Besides, the Honda is super smooth too. Go for the '09 with ABS.

Do think about GSX 600R once seriously ... I read that it's power modes are helpful to reduce wheelspins, also helping low end torque a bit ... It makes the GSXR more road appropriate than other competition 600s you mentioned ...

But, if fairing is your only need, check out new FZ6 2009. I saw it's pics on Xbhp only. It has a fairing ...

Why don't you think about Triumph Daytona 675 09 model...its updated and its one of the most balanced bike in its category along with Honda...and its different too

Think about it...otherwise, if u wanna go for japs only...i would say only the Honda has the best of both worlds, u know what i mean!

i have seen the FZ6 '09.. i personally dont like it in terms of looks.. i'd prefer the naked FZ6 any day to faired or semi faired.

the reason i didnt give triumph a thought is the reason it is lesser known than the Japs Fab four.. hence i felt it would create service problems here in Pune.. that was my POV.. correct me guys if im wrong.

hmmm....what u can do is call Dream Bikes and ask them if they also service the bikes (i assume they do). If yes, then I think u can consider Triumph also. I think it being less popular than jap four only increases its uniqueness...and read reviews on the net, say on Motorcycles and Motorcycle News - Motorcycle USA. its gives one of the most reliable reviews. go through it and see. As far as i have read about it, it is worth a buy without doubt!

I can help u find some dealers for sure! And can accompany you if possible.
Honda is great as always. The next 600 edition will come out probably in 2011.

Whereas the 2008-09 GSXR-600 looks completely different.Cycle World say that Gixxers have a very buttery smooth gear shift. But they give more track points to R6 than CBR and GSXR. I have no idea about ZX6R. Bike India can help you.

There is also my friend who can help you with the purchase.I can pm you his email id.

edit:there is also a new Yamaha-XJ series of bikes.
