Ya thats what kept me away from underseat exhausts when looking for my dream babe

Well R6 are hard to get hands on even abroad(thats what i ve heard ) So it demands premium right from the beginning. And..logically calculating R1 makes more sense.

And i booked my R6 08 right within 15 days of it being launched and though i ultimatley got a very late delivery but i feel since it was hard to get hands on ...i paid a premium for it.

I happen to own an 08 R6......and i would suggest like others have to go test them out once. I notice you are more inclined towards the R6 and CBR.....personally...when i had to make a decision....these were the 2 bikes i narrowed down to. It all boils down to which one sets your pulse racing. In my case i wanted the yellow R6 at any cost....and also the riding position on the R6 and CBR were far better compared to the suzuki and Kawis....

The R6 is known to be less torquey at lower rpms.....apparently Yamaha did a survey of its customers and found out that 70% of them use their bikes on track days quite often, so they decided to make it more track friendly. Therefore the power band is up top.....
Still you will be able to pull away from traffic at a light 1st, unless its a liter bike or one of the other 600cc....but once you go past 4000 rpm....the R6 rips....take my word......

So go ahead.....get what sets your pulse racing......and you wont regret it..

thanks man for your concern.. i have myself been talking to bike owners who have been riding for a while now and the problem is they all praise there bikes which gets me more confused.. i have ridden myself but have found not much of a difference in the bikes but personally cbr riding position makes me feel more comfortable..
well i still HAV to make a decision and im not hurrying wit things as i would be buying a bike only after the end of this financial year.. have another roughly 2 months more to make a decision.. suggestions are still welcome ;-)

The gixxer series is known to be much more road friendly than its counters.It is less track oriented than others.So if you want a city tool,do consider the baby Gixxer.

The 'baby' (if you can call it one) gixxer is probably the second most track focussed between the four Japanese majors, the most track focussed being the R6.
Most riders on international forums seem to be all praise for the gixxers' low seating which helps them corner better for some odd reason.
Btw, what do you exactly mean by road friendly other than the low seat height of the gixxer for short riders?

Paaji...i think that the CBRs are the Hot favs on the tracks...!!! Preferred by the most for its handling and the straight runs...!! Then we can rate the R6..dunno much about the performance of the gixxer on the track..!

The new ZX6 is supposedly a killer on the track too.

On the track...the R6 rules....closely followed by the CBR and GSXR.....
CBR is the best of both worlds....
GSXR...esp the 08s are very good bikes...they do everything well....but dont excel in any of the fields.....
Ninja...the 08s were last in the pack....although initially reviews of the 09s are very good....
So again...if you have a chance get on these bikes and decide. Its hard to do that here in the US...cause dealers wont allow it...and unless some friend owns one and is kind enough to let you try it out..there is no chance you get to test ride any of these.
another pointer on the GSXR....for my height...6'1....its kinda low...
I gave riding position and looks more thought....and so the R6 was the chosen one by far.....

Thats excatly what few of us were saying....if i have bought R6 i would definately rate it better bcoz thats what i felt is better than the other and so bought it

And yes...only experienced and pro racers can make out a difference between them...and they too have their own perceptions as its not necessary all the pro racers and professionals would come to a common unanimous conclusion. So at the most what i feel for us amateurs is to go for budget,seating position and then looks

I actually meant the low seat and the three mode power system.,,and BTW the Kwacker and R6 are much more track oriented than the gixxer according to 2008-2009 specs.

Check this out guys.... Kwacker leads the Pack. But at that level, these bikes have capabilities way more than any normal rider could use. SO, in the end , buying decision is purely based on looks and which brand appeals more.
The more finicky people would ponder over issues like Street capability. But, pure and simple - If you looking at street capability, don't get a sportbike; buy something more easier - like Kawi Er-6n or Suzuki SV650. Period.

Yeah , just did check out the whole article. Is real nice and informative when we talk the supersport category. Then again the Kawi I reckon leads the pack followed by the Suzuki pretty much in every department.Pretty sad is that the 09 600rr has lost out on on a significant no of ponies.

Now when it comes to us guys buying what we do I totally second what Loki has mentioned. Hence I bought me my Gixxer which looks real sharp, has tons and tons of power and handles real sweet too. Enough said!

Hi guys, I m Ketan here from Mumbai...
I was actually gonna start off with a new thread in "what bike" section but thought of doing a thorough research on any existing thread that may prove helpful to me. And I came across this thread. This exactly the same thread I was looking for, only thing is it started off with 4 short listed bikes and I m concerned with only 2.

I right now own a Yamaha R15 and am planning to go for a 600cc machine(CBR600RR or R6) by end of Q3 in 2009.

Upon reading each n every post in this thread and hearing SBK owner's opinions, it is obvious that chosing a 600 cc machine comes down to Brand image, riding comfort and looks. Resale value and availability of parts are another couple of things to be taken into consideration.

I have never ridden an SBK till date other than a CBR1000RR for just a couple of minutes. I dont even cosider that as riding a bike..

That's y as Navjot siddhu says, I am like a kid in a topless bar.. Way too much confused and under knowledged.

As far as my knowledge goes, CBR is the best blend of both worlds, track and City where as R6 is more of track oriented. R6 also has got the power band lill upwards 4k RPM. Same thing is with R15(no.. m not comparing R15 with R6) as well and many people complain about it... But i dont.. I am very comfortable with it..Or I should say it's enough grunt for me..

I have done quite a lot of research for both of these machines but I haven't found the most imp information bout these bikes anywhere on the net. I am talking about... 1) Power out put figures - ??? BHP 2) Torque - ??? 3) Top Speed - Of course approximate..???

I tried finding the information on official web sites of Honda and Yamaha, both USA, but there's just very basic info on it. Nothing regarding performance. Why is it so?

Can anyone please tell me those above figures for R6 and CBR600RR ? I really need that info. Any links, articles, videos will be highly appreciated.

And if I plan to buy it by Q3 this year, then what'll be the approximate cost of these machines?

As of deciding which one to go for among these 2 machines, I am sure it'll take me right till the last moment as I like both these machines very well.

So guys, please help me out with that information..

1) Please tell me the peformance figures of both R6 and CBR600RR like

a) BHP - ??
b) Torque - ??
c) Top Speeds - ??
d) Price - ?? INR

2) Why is this info not shown on the official web sites where as one can see the performance spec about R1 on the web site. Then why not with R6 and CBR600RR?
