• Some questions related to getting 600cc

Hi Guys,

currently i hold pulser 220cc i am using it from past 3 years and now i am planning to move to bigger engine. so first my plans was to go for CBR 600RR or R6 or GSXR600.

i got guy who is selling his GSXR600 for 4.5lk. he said bike is all clear paper.

now there are few questions came in mind after reading various threads on xbhp those are as follows and hope those will get clear.

1. i have seen some thread on forum which says as per indian laws we cant get 600cc bikes imported. so how this guy got all papers clear?

2. if seller is saying he got all clear paper then how to verify it?(i dont know anyone in customs or RTO)

3. if indian law wont allow 600cc bikes in india then how Ninja 650 launched in india(is there anything to do with engine specification like inline 4)?

4. my budget is 6lk is it possible to get any legal 600cc bike at this price?

5. What are the chances of getting legal R1 /CBR1000 in this budget(i am expecting lot i think)?

6. I am fan of that exhaust sound of big bikes which is not there in Ninja 300/650 is it possible to get similer sound on this bike with spending few more bucks?

7. Finally what should be my budget to get legal 600cc bike in india?

I know its too many questions but i need to know this b4 taking decision after all my 6lk on stake

600's are not legal in India; Google for 600cc in xBhp & you'll see lots of threads related to it. Go through them & make up your mind.

PS - I'm not surprised at this question considering your posts & your join date here

aargee saar has already given the answer. BTW, for the above query of yours, you have the following options - Ninja 650, Hyosung GT 650, Hyosung Aquila.

You need to check what all papers he has.. RC Book / Insurance is not sufficient for these bikes you will need Purchase Invoice, Bill Of Landing, Tax Receipt, DRI Clearance etc... also which route this bike was brought to India? search forum for list of documents required.

2. if seller is saying he got all clear paper then how to verify it?(i dont know anyone in customs or RTO)

You can always contact DRI but not sure how cooperative they will be.

3. if indian law wont allow 600cc bikes in india then how Ninja 650 launched in india (is there anything to do with engine specification like inline 4)?

Homologation, there is nothing specific to inline 4 or anything

4. my budget is 6lk is it possible to get any legal 600cc bike at this price?

Understand first thing that most of the 600cc (R6 / CBR 600RR / GSRX 600) you find on Indian roads are not fully legal.. Only those who got the bike by transfer of residence mode and have paid the full duty can be called Fully Legal.. Most the so called clean bikes have half or some duty paid..

5. What are the chances of getting legal R1 /CBR1000 in this budget(i am expecting lot i think)?

With current price of R1/CBR 1000 reaching 16 L no chance in hell you will Indian invoice bike in that price for another 7-8 years. You can hunt for 2002-2005 models in that price but again you have to make sure that they have all the legal documents.

6. I am fan of that exhaust sound of big bikes which is not there in Ninja 300/650 is it possible to get similer sound on this bike with spending few more bucks?

Sound of inline 4 cannot be expected from anything else... you can have full system exhaust on N300 / N650 from multiple brands which will cost from just 23K to 65K but understand one thing installing after-market exhaust will require you to re-flash the ECU or install PC5 / Juice Box / Fuel Management Systems etc other wise your bikes fuel-air mixture will be lean resulting in long term damage to engine... not to mention fall in fuel economy...

7. Finally what should be my budget to get legal 600cc bike in india?

Would highly recommend you to stay away from same rather stretch your budget to 8-8.5 L and find yourself Indian invoice FZ1 or CB1000 (Used of Course)

I know its too many questions but i need to know this b4 taking decision after all my 6lk on stake

Usually when we modify air intake we need to remap fuelling. But how is an eased exhaust pathway resulting in a lean mixture?. I am missing something.

Please explain.

Yes. In fuel injected engines, O2 sensors in the exhaust help the ECU with fuel-air ratio.
Btw, I don't think this 'remap' theory has universal application. At least not in cars. The system often adjusts itself with a new CAI or a better exhaust as long as it doesn't change things significantly. I think the same applies to bikes too.
But I guess @viraj_s85 was talking about serious mods which may need serious testing on a dyno and probably an ECU remap .

I would try to answer some questions that u have raised here as you would've found the answers to other questions..

Q - My budget is 6lk is it possible to get any legal 600cc bike at this price?
A - In your budget of 6 Lakhs u can get Harley Davidson Street 750, its a 750cc bike and its very much in your budget and if u can stretch ur budget a little you can also get the Harley Davidson Superlow.

Q - What are the chances of getting legal R1 /CBR1000 in this budget(i am expecting lot i think)?
A - The chances of getting such a bike are very bleak and I would suspect something wrong with the bike if its available for such price.

Q - I am fan of that exhaust sound of big bikes which is not there in Ninja 300/650 is it possible to get similer sound on this bike with spending few more bucks?
A - These bikes have after market exhaust systems available for u to choose from these range from slip ons to full system exhausts.

Q - Finally what should be my budget to get legal 600cc bike in india?
A - A new 600cc bike should set u back by around 9 Lakhs.
