Read THIS thread - post 33 specifically, and then the rest of it, if possible. You would get a fair share of idea about what's happening in India with the imported SBKs, which might change this potential 'harmful' intention of getting a SBK anytime soon (except the official ones available, ofcourse).
    :)

If you are located abroad, you can get one down on TR as long as you have owned it there for a year.

Right. +1 ... Atleast mention the purpose?

@ rikxtreme: If you are new, don't fall for Grey Market Bikes! Forget them ...

You can get a BMW 650F Second Hand legally, as it was here a decade ago...

BUT, My opinion is that you wait for some time to get them officially. I expect these "600cc" bikes soon :--> KTM Duke 690, YZF R6, GSX 750R, etc...

Source: KTM Duke said by Rajiv Bajaj,
about R6 a reputed member of another forum(!) was sure about R6, FZ1 & FZ250,
Gixxer 750, as told by Bike India, is in "final stages of homologation".

If nothing happens, you can still get Ninja 250 after June ... 30 bhp's ain't too less, are they?

The news about FZ250 and R6 does bring a smile to a lot of faces including me, but to "wait for some time to get them officially" might make us wanna bang our head against the walls. Its nobodys fault its just the way this place is.
Atleast ninja250 seems to be sure after a year of unending specualtions . Thanks to BAJAJ for there efforts.

The thread has been moved onto the Moderator's Lounge. It had seen enough of hoopla since the past couple of days.

'To Buy Legal or Illegal' was the title of the thread; that should give you a fair share of idea regarding the contents!

I know it must be related to the recent developments in Mumbai. I think it's fair to keep the topic out in the open for discussion so we can dissuade folks to avoid going down the grey route.

There are quite a few threads about the things you've asked. I see you are a new member, so please look around, use the search facility, and also have a look at the classifieds. Only after this if you don't find the answer to your queries, create a thread. Hope you understand

It's a free country man. People choosing grey market bikes over legal ones usually have their own, pretty strong reasons which are hard to counter
Not much potential for dissuasion IMO. Let's have a look-see about that thread though.

EDIT: Moved the thread back. It's now in the Superbikes and Imports category.

Thanks mate. I for one have decided never to buy a shady bike. I was so tempted in getting a Speed Triple of the CB1000R last but decided against it due to all the legal hassles. I'm glad my head prevailed over my heart. And I'm glad I even bought the right bike (for me). Can't go back to an I-4 after the thumping V-Twin.

I'm getting my Akra Stage I mufflers, single seat kit and the shorty slash cut carbon mufflers in a week or so. I'll put it on along with the tail tidy and SS lines and take some pics to post one here soon.
