I am well acquainted with that ticking noise. But this one is different. Comes after i ride the bike for a few minutes. Like i said, shot a video too but dont know how to post it here.

Please do post some pics for people like us to stare. We had enough of Sunny days
Thank you buddy. I dont ride her inside the town. But it's still a cakewalk to ride her in traffic except for the clutch and heat. I take her out on state highways (there aint any NH for around 65Kms). Nearest service centre is Cochin which is around 280 Kms from here. But Triumph guys often come to Coimbatore (120Kms from here) as there are plenty of bonnies there. I use all the time i can spare just to ride her so pictures are rare. But will do a photo session soon and share them here.

Re: Red Rose - my new Triumph Street Triple 675 RED!

        * Clutch is a bit heavy. My fingers still ache from an hour long ride in b2b traffic.
Normal when u come from 150 /250's, wear gloves.

        * riding position is a bit sporty (I'm 5.6 ft tall) but very comfortable
U r supposed to slide into the tank and lock your knees around the tank belly

        * is there anyway i can bring back the original colour of the silencer pipes? Its looks a bit burned now.
You can buff the pipes if you are taking it for a show... anyways it won't last 15 days and will start blacking out

        * sometimes the gear shift was smooth but sometimes it was really hard. I also found false neutral coupla times. Is it normal?
Normal in some bikes, don't know about the triumph

        * while i finished riding and was about to park it, the silencer made a noise as if some steel ball was dancing inside. Is it somethin to be concerned?
        Get it looked up

Tyres, get it replaced. Since you live in a small town. Highly you get a dual purpose set of tyres... road racer tyres won't give feedback on bad roads, slippery broken roads or where's mud. They will last longer and hold better on bad roads, loose gravel and wet conditions.
Also think about either raising the handlebars a bit or replacing a handlebar with higher bars... will give you more control in bad roads and around off road scenario.

What is the ODO reading of your bike? Mine is rather new and just reaching 3100 km now...So far I have not faced any stalling which is most widely discussed topic in Triumph forums. I even heard that some Kawasaki Z800 are also facing this kind of issue - but mostly heard from Triumph riders only.

What are the frame protectors/fork sliders/engine covers etc you are using? Or have you not yet installed these? I have now ordered the following:

SW Motech Frame Sliders Rs 13000
              R&G Fork Sliders Rs 4000
R&G Rear Axle Sliders Rs 3500
              Expected fitting charges Rs 500

Place - Biking Super Store - Balewadi, Pune, Maharashtra.

I will share photos once I actually get all of these and fit them on the bike. This stuff doesn't impact warranty as one doesn't take anything original off from the bike and there is no actual electrical or mechanical change which can affect overall bike performance in any manner.

For people based in South, there is a person SEAN in Bangalore who is authorized dealer of SW Motech in India and also keeps other brands.

              Hi,

Are you still stuck in the dilemma of Kawasaki Z800 or Triumph Street Triple? I can understand that - I was in double mind for long time before taking the final decision.
If you are too worried about Triumph stalling issues, go for Z800...But check with existing Z800 users what they say...
Did you manage to get test ride from Kawasaki for Z800?

Odo reading is around 6900 now. Was 6600 when i took delivery. The previous owner has installed the flyscreen, frame sliders, fork protectors, LED indicators and tyre hugger. All from Triumph. I just changed the headlight bulbs to Osram Nightbreaker Unlimited. The only other thing i might install is the belly pan but i am not sure if it reduces the ground clearance further. No stalling issues and i hope it stays this way. I have read the same stalling issues even in BMW forums. My next step is to change the tyres and then to take her for a check up with Triumph Cochin. Eager to take her out.

                  Hi Jeevan sir,
Still pretty much confused. No luck on getting the Z800 test ride yet.
On the other end I have had more test rides of the ST3. Leaning towards it just bcz of Kawasaki not providing a test ride.
I'll be making a decision and going for the purchase by Feb end. Trying to sell off my current bike

Guys, what is the maximum number of temperature bars you have noticed while riding in city traffic? I saw it go up to 6 bars and it stayed the same for a long time.

I understand, but lack of ABS is actually a big issue.

                          Hi Paradoxx,

If you are willing to wait some more - I just read on one of the magazine websites that Benelli 600i with ABS is going to be launched in year 2016.

Right now, I am unable to recommend TNT899 because it is still without ABS. Otherwise it is a really exotic Italian bike. But in the hands of a person moving from smaller bikes it could turn out to be a dangerous weapon liable to wrong handling by new rider...

Without Kawasaki Z800 test ride, don't take a decision...

Also, have you checked used bikes market - depending on luck - you might be able to get a decently priced used Street Triple or Kawasaki Z800....Best thing could be - many expensive modifications would have already been done by the original user and you may get it much cheaper...

On the down side, 2nd hand is 2nd hand and is not exactly same feeling as buying that new bike from showroom and taking it for your first ever round!

Taffer - you are quite lucky to get a fairly new bike - I don't think 6900 km is much running - it will almost be like new ...except the tyres...

Did you finalize Michelin Pilot Road 2? Or you will go for Pirelli? One thing is for sure - Pirelli Corsa tyres that came with ST3 as standard are more expensive but they have really strong grip - when turning the bike at aggressive leaning angles, you really feel their superiority over other rubbers...

You can see that Taffer in this thread has already bought a used Street Triple and it is pretty good deal I think...

                          Hi Teezam,

Triumph Street Triple (or for that matter even Kawasaki Z800, Benelli 600i etc) certainly not recommended for any bad roads...This is because all of them have low ground clearance. Street Triple has a particular vulnerability - it has a plastic coolant tank located at the bottom....One sharp speed breaker can cause a break and can result in tears for us....I am entirely weary of this particular fact - I almost stop on every speed breaker irrespective of how sharp they are....

Single seat/Solo riding causes minimal issues due to ground clearance in normal city conditions but someone heavy sitting behind you will cause the bottom to scrape on large speed breakers even at very slow speeds...Be extremely cautious on bumps/potholes...You have to save its belly from scraping against hard road..

Certainly forget any kind of dirt/off roading...If you need that, then go for taller bikes like Tiger...Or wait for Benelli Trek 502...

But when it comes to good quality Tarmac, Street Triple really tears it up....Runs like a charm!! Very easy to travel few hundred km without feeling much! Minor bumpiness or rough surfaces are handled quite well by Street Triple...

Jeevan, your point is valid. But the OP lives in a tier 3 town. Had been there... except for the main state highways, the conditions of the road are pathetic... The corsas and pilot powers are good when the roads are like those laid out in Europe or US. But riding in lots of loose gravel, wont inspire any confidence.

The following tyres will inspire a lot of confidence and immensely more grip than the standard sport tyres...

I bought my bike only recently - at the beginning of Oct-2015..But we did have high temperatures frequently till Dec - sometimes reaching 38+ deg also during the day..

In next 2-3 months, it will get tested in 40-41 deg...I am not planning to use much during rains...It practically has no mud protection at all...And fitting something on it will spoil its super-bike charm..

Well, mileage figures are varying drastically in city vs highways...If I take only the small sub-section where I ride in first 3 gears for majority of the time in Pune-Hinjewadi IT Park area, I think the mileage goes down to 14-15 kmpl...On highways it goes up to 22 kmpl or so (speeds are mostly above 100 in that case and mostly in 6th gear)

Overall I am getting somewhere about 5.3 Litres/100 km over last 3000 km...I ride almost daily to office in jammed conditions....Considering that fact, overall it is decent for its category...
