Hey all , i have a query regarding the overall registration charges on superbikes in india .
I was planning on getting my bike in may but due to certain reason that was not possible but now having eveything sorted out its fixed for this diwali , for the same i had inquired about the on road price of a ducati 821 dark , now the ducati 821 dark comes at about 9.53 lakhs exshowroom , wheareas rto charge at 20% comes around 1900,600 but the quotation says 2,15,000 , thats roughly around 25k more , one more thing is there is a depot charge of 15000 . And when i had inquired about the price the same bike dark edition was for 9.06 lakhs ex showroom . I tried searching for any news of price hike in india but cudnt find one . It would be of great help if someone can please explain me about the difference in rto charges , depot charges and the exshowroom price , i am looking forward to get this bike but the pricing is confusing me a little .

This is exclusively dependent on the laws of each state. So let us know which State you are looking to purchase your Ducati in and we could respond accordingly

amit22295 CBU Bikes above 300 cc will now attract 20% Motorcycle Vehicle Tax & CKD Bikes above 300 cc will now attract 10% Tax. Previously it was 7% in Maharashtra.
I thought Ducati bikes (Most of them) were CKD units. Is M821 a CKD product? If yes, then you should be only charged 10% rather than 20%.

Depot charges - AFAIK is for storing vehicle at warehouse till registration and delivery to owner.

P.S. You can do registration yourself as well by visiting the RTO if you feel the showroom is overcharging you (which in most cases happens) however it might come with some paperwork hassle in the RTO office. All that's needed to be paid is the receipt amount charged by RTO.

Re: Registration charges

These depot charges are very rarely included in the on-road price conversion invoice. All of these are included in the ex showroom price calculation.

Do confirm from Ducati. Their Facebook page replies back to messages within the hour. Or just ask Infinity Mumbai the rational behind the depot charges.

Hi

I got zilch info on this topic but would like to know more.
Ducati must be concerned mostly about the 'Ex showroom Amount' right ?
The rest of the charges -- negotiable ?
I know my query is quite vague.
The self registration bit and the depot charges caught my interest.

Cheers.

Re: Registration charges

Well ok for the depot , i will have a word again but what about the 25k margin in the registration charges , ive calculated the rto tax as 20% of 9.53 lakhs which comes at around 190600 but they have quoted 215600 which i quite alot . And ive checked with service charge for superbike in Maharashtra rto website which says mere 800₹ .

Yes , its a cbu , and i have calculated for the same , keeping in mind 20% of 9.53 lakhs.. Still there is a margin of 25k , u may calculate it for yourself if i am making any mistake .
And there is another quite intresting thing is the exshowroom prices were increased by a huge 50k and ive checked it on the net but no such news about that as well . Ive written to ducati india but no reply yet

You don't even need to pay CRTM charges unless you're getting the bike registered from a rto outside the dealership city.
The depot charges seem to be dealer charges, try to get them waived off.
Also, if you can get your bike registered at an address outside municipality limits, for example a farmhouse or a plot outside city, then you can avoid the LBT charges too.
