  • A few details about the comet!

    Folks,
This might be a tad old i guess and has been flogged a million times. But here are a few details i thought i should share with you all. Moderators can lock the topic if they feel so since this is just an FYI of sorts!
    Thx...
    --------------------------------------------------------------------

    Dear Nilesh :

    1) Is the comet 27hp or 30hp? 27 HP
Ans : Lowered a little to meet ARAI emission norms

    2) Also, comet comes in 2 versions. GT250 and GT250-S. Which one is this?
Couldnt really understand korean so didnt make out a difference from the
    official Hyosung website.
    Ans. :GT 250.

    3) Can any accesories like Expansion chamber for the exhaust that Hyosung
provides be bought with the bike?
    Ans. : Not currently planned

    4) In what cities are sevice setups provided? What will be turn around time
if a spare part is needed? Will we have to wait for the part to be imported?
every city where it is sold

    Ans. : Bombay
    Delhi
    Bangalore
    Chennai
    Kolkatta
    Guwahati
    Coimbatore
    Siliguri
    Chandigarh
    Pune
    Hyderabad)

Most commonly needed spare parts will be stocked either at dealerships or at
our HQ and there wont be much wait. However, in case of an accident if a
special spare part is needed (e.g. you need to replace the petrol tank or
something serious like that), it may take some time, but 90% of the
    requirements would be locally managed

    5) Any financing options being provided?
Ans. : Please check at dealership for this.

    6) Does the bike come with any warranty like 2yr/20000 miles etc?
    Ans. : 1 year 15000 kms

    7) Does it have a kick start or just an electric start like the norm is with
    these bikes?
Ans. : Only electric start; the engine is too heavy/powerful to try to
    start it with a kick!

If theres anything else you need to know, please write to us.

    Regards,
    Jane Rodrigues
    -------------------------------------------------------------------Dear Nilesh :

    Thank you for your mail.

Any bookings received prior to closing date (Nov 20) will be guaranteed
delivery, irrespective of the total number. 500 is our expectation for the
Comet, given the limited number of cities and short timeframe of
    availability.

If theres anything else you need to know, please write to us.

    Regards,
    Jane Rodrigues

    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    Dear Nilesh:

Yes, bookings are slated to open in October and remain
open until November end. The bikes will reach
    dealerships shortly.

The deliveries would be in Jan/Feb.
The good news is that we have managed to get ARAI
clearance for the original Shinko huge tubeless tyres!

"the engine is too heavy/powerful to try to
    start it with a kick!"

Then what about the 500 cc here? are they not too powerful to start with a kick?

LOL...true! But when it comes to here, the process of bringing it to life is more akin to cranking it up rather than starting it i guess! But then that guys gotta sell bikes! He's got a job to do and even if it takes lying!

But come to think of it, why do we need a kickstart to begin with on any bike now that we have the electric start option? Is the electric start unreliable? Or expensive than the kickstart? I mean why cant say Bajaj do away with the kickstart on its Pulsar?

@ nilesh : Bajaj is not a 100% completely reliable product to give away its kickstart.

no lovemax its nothing to do wid the reliability of the machine its just that the price concious people of India will never buy a bike w/o a Kick for reasons best known to them & also they cant afford to design a bike w/o kick as very few people opt for the electric start.. even in pulsars the number of kick start model owners is more than self start ones..

                      Ken,
Dont you worry! You just read it wrong.

"Any bookings received prior to closing date (Nov 20) will be guaranteed

                      availability."

And that was quite dumb of me not to ask where are the test rides! But never too late so let me ask now. Will post the reply soon!

The kickstart is the only starting option in many MX bikes...esp the 125-250cc ones..I guess to do with small batteries or something..anybody?...
By monday, the comet should hit the delhi showrooms...I had called two days back and one thing was for sure- there r 2 comets in delhi for sure...for the pres launch and stuff.
I do hope they will alow a test ride...& maybe they can sell the showrroom bikes a few months later for a little lesser than the other pieces!!...:-D...bikecrazy gave me that idea..
