And I'm not disagreeing with you, but what the magazine purportedly claims.Originally posted by Raoul Black View PostAs i said its in the August Issue of Superbike magazine, page-8 & 9, over there it talk about the 3D power chart, which shows missing power in the dyno tests. You can get a copy of the magazine on the net, its a big pdf or i would have pasted it here. In the fly by wire of yamaha, when you open the throttle the ecu decided what the best throttle valve opening and generates a signal to operate the motor to open the throttle valve, so the ECU is programmed to open the valve accordingly, so its not a load of crap, it can be done. And don't get me wrong, i am not trying to dis any machine or person, i am only sharing what i have read.
This is another example of a magazine trying to unnecessarily put a machine down. The throttle link to the ECU has been around on the R1 since 2007 (It's called the YCC-T and works in conjunction with the EXUP), and AFAIK the others are also running similar systems. So why knock one machine saying the ECU opens the throttle valve disproportionately to the throttle opening and fools the rider into thinking there is more power? I doubt if they can even back their percentage claims with proof.
I have also seen the dyno charts across a few magazines saying the power is down, and it certainly looks the case."Tough times never last, but tough people do." - Robert Schuller

I found a PDF cutter on the net and i can send the article to you by mail if you want, i can't upload it here as it say the attachment limit is 19kb and the pdf is 800 kb. It has dyno charts but if it purposely trying to put Yamaha down then i am a bit correction a lot

I'll find the magazine and read it, but these kind of feedback in magazines is nothing new. The point of my last 2-3 posts here is that most reviews have to be taken with a pinch/pound of salt.Originally posted by Raoul Black View PostI found a PDF cutter on the net and i can send the article to you by mail if you want, i can't upload it here as it say the attachment limit is 19kb and the pdf is 800 kb. Will keep that in mind, i was just replying to Suren - Well MCN and a few European magazines say the 09 R1 is faster than the K9 gsxr by 2 secs ! And mostly its the American magazines who ve dumped the R1 dead last ! so who s right ?
Was just sharing what i had read.
BTW- how is your R1, read it did 10k recently, read your post about the problem with your R1, man you pay more than the rest of the world and receive less, in after sales term ofcourseFour wheels move the body. Two wheels move the soul.

no matter how fast the r1, no matter what technology it has, i would always prefer the gixxer 1000 over r1... for some reason (which i dunno) i love gixxer over the r1.
and one more thing.. Yamaha patented the cross-plane crank tech way back in the 1960's. and it is relatively a simple solution to counter non-linear power deliver due to inertial torque (no wonder they came up with it in 60's). but why they introduced it so late?! doesn't it sound fishy? and ducati has always used this technology even on old bikes like the 999. so its nothing new that yamaha has come up with.Last edited by gauravbalu; 10-22-2009, 07:35 PM.pulsar 220 dts-fi clocks 145kmph!

I have both models and describe the R1 as a Rugby Player and the Gixxer as a fine wine. It depends on what roads you are riding and how you wish to ride that road. Now desperate for the 2010 R1.Originally posted by gauravbalu View Postno matter how fast the r1, no matter what technology it has, i would always prefer the gixxer 1000 over r1... for some reason (which i dunno) i love gixxer over the r1.

Do they have sliders for that?
Then I guess you don't follow WSBK..
Ben 'Elbows' Spies (now in MotoGP) has this habit of extending his Elbows while cornering, don't know if they gain anything from this, but looks extreme for sure. Am in office so can't post the Pics.. google for Ben Spies. Those people who tell you not to take chances
