John Britten was a true legend, not sure bout the compability of current WSBKs with this 1 but still hope some1 to come up with this Bike again with modern tweeks.
Hope there is someone who will continue his legacy. It was a totally unconventional bike. A V-twin 1000cc SBK with the rear suspension at the front of the engine. Completely hand made, each and every part..

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

Unfortunately he passed away. Why did god take away such a fantastic person.
Very tragic, how life can be..

Whoww thanks for starting off this thread bro....

John Britten.. The first time Iam hearing this name is in a program in discovery channel "Greatest ever(motorcycles in world history)".. A list of 10 dominated by Nortons,Honda CB750,Y2K,Ducati916 etc etc.... But this bike hand made by a single genius(in his backyard) was placed in a respectable position(top 5 If Iam correct....)among the big sharks of the industry! Britten was a true genius. The bike was a masterpiece. stripping down weight as much as possible. Britten came up with the idea of doubling up the engine components as a platform to support other parts And use of the space age carbon fibre too...... So theoretically the V1000 doesnt have a frame!!

A true genius and a true masterpiece.... Hats off....

+1. Even I came to know of this legend through Discovery Channel. Unbelivable

Sad to lose people like this so early.

There was no rear suspension you know. That suspension which was supposed to be in rear, was mounted in "front" of the engine if you see carefully.

What a masterpiece by the genius....helmets off to him....Dunno why God alwayz takes away good people so early . wonder what all could have happened in the world of bikes if he is still alive!
I was just going through all the old threads in xbhp and one thing caught my attention ..

the same bike was discussed way back in 2003 also! pity i was not that lucky to see the show on discovery regarding this. Hope they re telecast it again sometime that i dot wanna miss.
again kudos to the thread starter for finding this link and posting it here.

Sorry to bring this topic up again. I looked about on the net for the movie called "Britten bike story". Wanted to buy it, unfortunately it was not available. Finally i had to download it. And it took me more than 2-3 weeks to download, as seeds were not available. Its a complete 1.03gb movie. If anyone wants it, please let me know. I'll try to upload it on rapidshare part by part.
