    Hi all
got the bike back. Very minimal damage (clutch lever, handlebar end, stator cover and rear peg are a little ground up).

Me on the other hand... broken left wrist and several bruises. Good thing I always wear all my gear. The helmet is busted and will need a new one.

How it happened- Just pulled out of my building, saw some pedestrians up ahead, braked.. and front slid out. Unfortunate combination of brand new tires and a freshly cleaned street. I wasn't even going fast at all.
Took a hard slam to the left and tumbled around a little. Bike slid up ahead to where the peds were.
I got up and walked to the bike and very soon realized that I was in trouble. Sat down on the curb as the shock from broken bone kicked in.. The folks helped me get my helmet off and called 911. Waited for the EMTs with me too which was really nice of them.

    Rest was regular ER stuff...

So... no more riding to work everyday. The wife made me get a second car over the weekend to replace the Bimmer I got rid of earlier this month when I had declared that riding to work everyday would be a brilliant idea. (of course she will ensure that I never forget that).

So now in addition to a bike that I cannot ride, I also have an Infiniti G35 that I cannot drive. At least not anytime soon.

So here I am, busted up and ego bruised. Thanks doc for the Vaicodin.

Morale of the story - Always wear all your gear, you never know when you will need it. If you ride, you will crash. It's not 'If' but 'When'. Make sure you are protected when you need it.

@Vivek: A broken wrist will take time to heal. Take care of the injury. Good to know that you were totally geared up. A motorcycle rider needs to be totally geared up at all times; also good to know that the machine is back without any major damages.

        Take care man.

congratz man on the bike...sorry for the accident though

now the 911 thing, if that were to happen here with some biker the people would have probably beaten him up and he would have to pick his bike and himself.........i so wish the medics were like this here

Sometimes I get tired of the India and US situational comparisons. I've seen cases in the US where accidents are blamed on the bikers for no fault of theirs. What would you guys say to that?

Anyway, Vivek, I wanted to congratulate you on the bike, but by the time I could do it, you went down

Good to hear the bike has lesser damage than you. I would always prefer it that way with my bikes as well

I so wish I could rant "I told you so!"

Thats not important, whats important is that you are safe and the bike doesnt have a lot of damage!

A lil more use of the rear brake, especially when tyres are cold
