Classic case of preferring Function over form, fair enough.

I refuse to buy your second argument. I prefer concrete figures or tech specs and not the usual 'its got a soul' kinda arguments.

        P.S I didnt ride a Vtwin. 848 is an L twin.
I know that it is an L. All Ducatis are to my knowledge. About the vibes, it is a question of getting used or not getting used. People who are into inline Japs often get blinkered and are unable to see/appreciate anything else. I was like that till Harley happened to me in 2008!

Is it ONLY a question of practicality. Tell me, in a 6 cylinder, would one prefer to go for an inline 6 or a V6? (Take the typical example of the Accord V6, what a beauty of a performer!)

I am getting old. And I am getting there faster on a Ducati. Much faster!

I am interested in the Bold part. Can we have a technical thread on it? I am sure a lot of us will benefit from it.

Not one. Two of them I thought. For the Italy trip!

It does!!! I did not think it vibrates even half as much as a Ducati!
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

It purely depends, if that Inline 6 is fitted in a BMW i will have it any day over and above a V6.

You're right. Its just called L Twin by convention. Geometrically, anything Between 0 degrees to 180degrees is called a V. It is also understood that changing the angles will change the power characteristics of the engine.

I think there is a lot of character to these Ducatis that cannot be explained or understood or fathomed over a test drive. There is much more to these machines and I completely understand what Ken mentioned.

The tests on the inline 6 on the BMWs also speak about how the engine needs to be revved hard to get juice out of the them. V6s on the other hand are performers on every other engine. We'll like you mentioned, the BMW tag will be the only reason I choose an inline 6 over a Honda V6.

I'm sure you know this, but there is a direct correlation between Torque and Power. If you have more Torque, it simply means you have more horses at any given rpm. And if you have a bike like a 1198, you have more power at any given rpm + a peak power of 170 horses and that means torque and power.

Ducati India has slashed prices of it's range in India..

                Monster 796 = 8 lacs ex showroom
                848 = 12.5 Lacs ex showroom

I got a call from Ducati Gurgaon showroom about this update, I has visited them earlier as I was interested in Monster 696. So they called me to update.

I guess the 848 was atleast 15lacs when launched...

                    Then it slowly crawled down.
                    You get the point?? :D

Originally the 848 was priced at 19,97,451 on the road, Mumbai. This has come down to 15,00,000 on the road, Mumbai. I believe they are having problems getting their bikes registered. Not sure how big a problem this is but I know 1 bike which has waited over 2 months and still not registered.

2 months is alot, I am not really sure how ducati is in India, they are through some agent ? hmm sell it for a premium, dont care how high the price is... again, their attitude has a problem. now they reduce price

I think they had started through Precision Motors, and now they have a showroom in Delhi (not sure).

My prayers have been answered... well atleast somewhat answered!

                              650 - 5.5 Lakhs
                              Bandit - 10 lakhs
                              Monster - 9 Lakhs

I know bandit and Monster arent in the same league, but I am just wondering what is Suzuki upto especially pitching it as the cheapest 'litre' class and now having a Monster brand name egging it.

I hope this someday translate into cheaper 690!

At these prices, we might see more ducatis than the japs on road.... even a bare minimum ducati has more brand (read: show off, cool, i have a bike ferrari ) value i guess....
